Deal With Being Alone on a Flight when You're a Minor
|
You're young, on a flight, alone, and a little bit scared. But don't worry, this article was made for minors or people who are just a little scared of flying/ flying alone. Steps
- Review your schedule: Memorize what time your flight leaves, when it arrives, etc.
- Calm down: The last thing you want to do is freak out or break down in the middle of the flight. Try thinking of happy things. If one of your family members or friends cry when they're saying goodbye, that's a green light to cry a little bit. But if you are on the flight and HAVE to cry, go to the lavatory and quietly let it all go so nobody hears you.
- Try to sleep: Sometimes the best thing to do is go to sleep on the flight. Since you may be a little nervous, you can wake up a lot easier, so if the plane lands or the flight attendant/captain speaks over the intercom you should wake right up.
- Chew some gum: This is great for helping your ears pop. Nobody likes it when their ears pop. Chewing gum alleviates this problem.
- *If you're a minor,* try to get an escort: for about 10-20 dollars, you can get one of the flight attendants to escort you around. This is good for the people who have to take connection flights. They'll take you to your seat, and sometimes, they'll give you free headphones and snacks/drinks.
- Make friends with the flight attendants: If you can, be friends with the flight attendants; that way, they can help you if you're having problems flying.
Tips
- See if any of your friends have flown alone before and you can ask them what they felt like and any tips that they might be able to give you.
- Take deep breaths. Also in the beginning you are nervous but later in the flight you become more relaxed. Just remember it's okay and lots of kids have flown before! =D
