It is tragic that many Palestinians who are not directly involved in terrorism are suffering as a result of the actions of their leaders. While no one wants to see any noncombatants harmed, it is important to acknowledge that all Palestinians in Gaza bear some responsibility for their current predicament. After all, they voted to empower Hamas in an election in which they knew the organization's platform called for the destruction of Israel and the use of terrorism to achieve its aims.

The Palestinians in Gaza have done nothing during the last three years to stop Hamas from launching rockets into Israel. At any time the people could have said, "Enough! We do not support terror." Instead of allowing rocket crews to fire Qassams from their houses, yards, or neighborhoods, the people could have said, "Stop! I will not allow you to make us a target. I will now allow you to use my family as a shield."

For the last three years, the Palestinians of Gaza have said, in effect, "We don't mind if Israelis are murdered by Hamas rockets, but the world should support us."

During World War II, the German people were not spared suffering from the Allied invasion because they were noncombatants or because some could claim they were not Nazis and did not support Hitler. All the German people were held to account for their failure to stop their leaders from carrying out their aggression and genocidal policies.

The Palestinians now are also being held to account. What is different, however, is that unlike the Allies in World War II, Israel is doing everything possible to avoid hurting Palestinian noncombatants despite their culpability. Even now the Palestinians have the power to stop the war by demanding that Hamas cease firing rockets. Alas, they refuse to take the one step within their power to ease their suffering.

well i am israeli and a supporter of israel. and my boyfriend happens to speak arabic and hebrew where i speak english and hebrew. we watched this video several times together and i asked him to translate into hebrew what these people were saying (mind you this was difficult for him bc of the person speaking in english over them). but what he told me they were saying is not what the person speaking english said they were saying. the girl you spoke of was very hard for him to hear but what he got out of it was this "she did not say mother or anything about getting shot in the hand. but she did say that she was shot in the side and it came out of her stomach. and she did talk about a store" which is very sad. we don't like to see injured children. but there are always casualties, i am sure she just got caught up in crossfire. it is against army policy to target civilians. and this sort of thing happens sometimes.
but anyways, my point is: unless you speak arabic, watching these videos can be deceiving because the person doing the translating is banking on the fact that you don't know arabic, and exaggerates what these people are saying. and twists their words to make it sound worse. they take one thing the person says and turns it into an essay or changes the meaning to support their opinion.
some of the people interviewed didn't say anything remotely like what the person translated! when i told him what the person said in english he was in shock!

I do not watch videos on youtube as they are full of virus's. Sorry...but hamas does use human children as shields. The Palestinian people are held hostage by Hammas who vowed even yesterday to not change anything and to keep up the pressure on Isarel. They will not help with a peace treaty and they WILL continue to hide their weapons behind children and women and let them die for their cause.

I am not familiar with this one incident..but you said it yourself..it is 1:16 seconds...how do you know you have that whole idea and it was not taken out of context or the few seconds before or after or even a day before didn't contribute to it. NOTHING ever takes place in 1:16 seconds...there is more to it. Don't be niave to think that.

It is propaganda...and or this child is saying what she is forced to say or she does not know the whole story. Those children are forced to believe...just like the atheists here think we Christians are force fed things...they DEFINITELY ARE! They aren't even allowed to THINK of another religion or THINK differently. They aren't allowed to be children...they are soldiers from the day they are born.

It is unfortunate this child died...and those that don't want to hear this....I am sorry..but it is colateral damage. Like I said..it is 1:16 seconds...you have no idea what prompted that soilder to do that..maybe someone was close by and he thought he was shooting at him. WHY did that mother not have her child with her? Why was that child allowed to be alone...would you leave your child alone in that situation? You can't leave them alone HERE alone or the cops are here.

Don't judge until you are seeing all sides and the damage the side you are on is causing either. The Israelis have lost innocent children too and that wasn't right either.

i feel bad for what the children have to go through. With any war, it is ALWAYS the civilians who are the real victims. That being said,the Israeli children have suffered a lot as well. But of course, you choose to be bias and just show the children of one side,rather than both. children are children.

I wish that you would look at both sides.

War is a horrible undertaking and should only be used as a last resort, Israel has endured rocket attacks and suicide bombers for years without going to war, this is the last resort to stop attacks on Israeli citizens. Film can be edited to show whatever you wish to show. Millions of innocent men, women and children are killed and have been killed in wars this is nothing new, if Hamas stops the rocket attacks the children of Gaza have nothing to fear from Israeli jets and rockets.

But just as you blame Israel for targeting innocent Palestinians, you too are targeting an entire people and blaming them...half of which have nothing to do with this. I support Israel because they have a right to defend their country. Unfortunately with any war there are casualties. It would be great if we could get both sides to stop, but I'm afraid that will never happen. The two are like children fighting over a toy.

November 21, 2006. Kathryn Johnston, an 92-year-old Atlanta woman, was shot 6 times and killed by police officers who had entered her home with a fraudulently-obtained no knock warrant for a supposed drug grow-op.

November 25, 2006. Sean Bell died after police fired 50 shots at his car in New York City, on the morning of his wedding day. On April 25, 2008, Judge Arthur J. Cooperman delivered a verdict that acquitted the police officers of the charges.

February 4, 1999. Amadou Diallo was shot 41 times and killed by New York City police officers while unarmed as he headed into a doorway while reaching inside his jacket. A search of his corpse revealed no weapon, but did uncover a wallet he kept in his breast pocket. The 4 officers involved were acquitted of criminal charges at trial.

It could have been that a solider was firing in the direction of gunshots and from a prone position couldn't tell where he was aiming.

Innocents die at the hands of police officers in the U.S. because the officers act rashly. But, instead of being punished for their rash actions, to deter future acts of rashness, they usually get acquitted which is why innocents will continue to die at the hands of police into the future.

It's sort of the same case with Israeli ground troops marching into Gaza. They act rashly while heavily armed.
But, upon reflection, what's happening in Israel-Palestine is even worse. Not only will soldiers who killed Palestinians (whether intentionally, accidentally, whatever...) not be punished, but the Israeli government has sworn that none of their soldiers will ever stand before an adjudicatory proceeding.

Which means that Israeli soldiers now have that much less incentive to avoid making 'mistakes' or acting 'rash'.

Without witnessing the incident we don't know if what the girls says, and more importantly for those us of that don't speak her language, if what the translator is saying is accurate. We don't know if the gun discharged accidentally or if the soldier was firing at another and this poor girl got in the way or if it was malicious.
War sucks. There's an old expression, the first casualty of war is innocence.
Here's an idea, there's a war going on in the street, stay out of the street.

I'm neutral on the matter, I have no love affair with either side. The best I can do is review history, the creation of Israel and try to comprehend the anger built as the result. Using innocent people as shields is nothing new, it's been going on since people have been warring. It's an effective tactic. Unfortunately it makes the situation more ugly. You either let your enemy fire at you and just accept your casualties or fire back perhaps killing innocent people, pick one.

This war had all the elements of a genocide.
It's so obvious that even the diaspora Jews are against the Israelis.
I expect during 2009 millions of online pages with videos and true stories to be published on the Internet.
I believe that the time for some justice towards the Palestinian people has come.
The Israelis have been isolated and within a few months their system will collapse like a sand tower.
That's what I believe anyway, but you must remember I was the one speaking to you about tribunals and War Crime trials at least a year ago.
I also believe that the Palestinian Jews will not be able to form a Government without the aid of the American taxpayer.

As you can see from the first answer here, they don't care. It 'bores' them. If you are looking for compassion from these people you should think again. None of them care and the Christians on this site are even worse. No humanity or compassion or love for their fellow human beings. You can't tell me people like this have a fear of God. If they did, they would know their attitudes really displease him.
That little girl couldn't have been more than 6. She said she was waiting for her mum by the shop, the soldier saw her and shot her twice. How very brave. I can tell you most of the people this is aimed at won't even watch the video, it doesn't matter to them, they don't want anything inconvenient dissuading them from their dogmatic view point.

In which case Israel should allow Hamas to fire its rockets - it aims to make a mere statement of resistance and protest (landing on empty fileds and parked cars) against israels strangulation and illegal occupation, but i guess they can also claim 'collateral damage' for the 3 civilians killed in this.

And then they have the guts to say "we regret loss of civilian life - on both sides by the way'"?
