America says Israel and Olmert are lying. Do you think they are right?

Ehud Olmert has publicly stated that he was the one that orchestrated Americas abstention from the vote on the UN resolution calling for a cease fire. He claims that 10 minutes before the vote he 'demanded' that George Bush should direct Condalizza rice to abstain from the vote. He stated that George Bush was giving a speech in front of Parents and Children regarding education when he rang, and was told he was busy. He said, I told them 'I don't care what he is doing, get him on the phone now'. 'And they took him from the podium to a room where I spoke to him. I told him you must not vote yes on this resolution. He said he had not seen it, and I said, well I have and you must not vote yes. I demanded he instruct Ms. Rice to vote no, or abstain. And he rang her and instructed her to do that.'
America has said this isn't true, that Mr. Olmert never spoke to the President about this, and he was never taken from the podium for such a call. Israel's Mr. Mark Regev says Olmert stands by this statement. Mr. Olmert claims Ms. Rice was left pretty ashamed from having to abstain from the vote.
Now America says if Israel wants to clarify it, they can do so, all they know is no such thing happened.
Now America is faced with either admitting that Israel directs them in foreign policy, or that they suppot a government who's Prime minister lies in public.
Israel has to either admit that they have a liar for a prime minister, or that they indeed do direct America in it's decision making and foreign policy. Something that many on this board have denied. So which is it, did they lie, or do they control decision making in Washington?
