We were last there in March 2006. In Somerset West all the shops are barred and the atmosphere in the town was rather frightening. The motto was: "always be on the alert. Anything can happen." But a great thanks to the car minders, they do a good job.
In Hermanus and Onrust, all was peaceful and relaxing. No fear factor for me there. And Cape Town always is great, with city, sea, mountain and greenery all in one bowl.
And the weather was perfect, the food and the shopping tip top. And most of the people (excluding the baddies) friendly and outgoing, not minding a little chat here and a friendly comment there. Go S.A. anytime! |

Most ppl on this forum actually live here or are expats!! So YEAH, we've all 'been to SA lately'.
It's lovely, exept the zebra that normally takes me to work had to be shot as it bit another passenger, so I had to walk this morning - was terrified of the lions!! |

Enjoy does not even begin to describe the experience. I am from Cape Town so I will always love RSA but my husband is from the USA and he just cant seem to get enough of it. I try to go home every year, was there last christmas and also went to Swaziland and Maputo. Also worth a visit. |

Yup, couple of weeks back. Visited Cape Town-Waterfront, Robben Island, Table Mountain, Stellenbosch and wineries, the Museum, the colored alley, had a feast at Moyo and a safari at Aquila Farm and Preserve. Visited Johannesberg too-Gold Reef City. Last stop was Sun City and Pilanesberg Safari. Had a great time! People were nice, too! |
