Are SA taxpayers willing to support Zimbabwe ? Why should they ??

Does SA have the financial resources to support Uncle Bob AND provide all its promised services to its own SA citizens. Surely they come first.

What is that saying about to be able to look after yourself before you can help others? No use to get involved or even consider under a logical point of view to help Zimbabwe if we can't accomplish basic structure here at home. I guess you are right!

Now, besides racial politics and all the political fuzz, in an economical point of view;

Let us believe that uncle Robert disappears from the science completely and someone that actually try to make progress in Zimbabwe comes to light -

Wouldn't it stop the influx of people fleeing from Zimbabwe into SA for which we are already paying taxes [those that actually pay said as well] as well as bring down allot of the crime in SA, should we start to assist in the build up of Zimbabwe? Besides allot of dingo's here that are going to give opinions, we had a family farm up in Zimbabwe and left in 1976 to SA when I was a chokkertjie. My uncle stayed and some decade or so back the farm was nationalized. Everything on there went to shambles. It looked like a squatter camp a year later with only the foundation and some walls left of the house, no agricultural activity at all!

I guess that if after 13 years into the New South Africa and the way things are still going in many fields, it would be in the end of the day just a political debate amongst the people that want to make the 6'o clock news what to do with Zimbabwe. Thabo had "silent diplomacy' for far too long to rectify anything at a reasonable cost in Zimbabwe, and I guess uncle Robert, well he will be around for some time, and then whomever will follow him, I don't get my hopes up.

What will be interesting however is how many people answer your question and are actually SA Taxpayers! Now there will be a revelation!

We should stop all help immediately, so that MAD BOB can experience the consequences of his actions. By supporting Zim, we ensure that he stays in power and that the people of Zim suffer for longer.

romeoitaly
The SA tax payers are already supporting Zimbabwe!

Where do you think he gets his electricity and food for himself and his cronies?

Read this article - very good!

Birds of a feather flock together.African "culture" says they have to look after each other so SA will be going down the tubes with Zimbabwe.
This is Marxism at its best and the poverty, war and disease it has sewn upon millions.

I don't pay tax yet and hope never to pay their gravytrain. I won't pay for Zimbabwe: Mugabe, in his infinite wisdon, should and must either step down or give his people their country back. We don't have the financial resources an even if we had it's not our problem, it's Bob's fault and his responsibility.

cheryl l
As a tax paying South African if I knew my money was going to the people of Zimbabwe then ok but we all know the money would go straight to so called leaders. Should we not see to our people first and fix our problems of poverty. On another thought if "bob" would resign then the conversation could be looked at again.

jovvijo
What Mbeki says goes, regardless of how we the taxpayers (That's both of us), feel!
And Mbeki would rather curry ol' Bobs favour then that of his own country.

?
Robert is the 7th Wealthiest man in the world... ... So maybe he could make a small donation for all his peoples hard earned cash? Even if its just the interest....

Oh sorry I forgot... He needs more... He's trying to make it to the number one spot. Watch out Mr Gates and Oprah!

His Exellency has arrived...

Why should the people of sa have to pay for Mugabes luxuries. even if they get politcal reform Mugabe will still use it as his own money

ST
In reality only Mugabe and his cronies will be supported, it won't ever go to helping the common people

Ibanez
I don't agree with anyone tying to help out Zim until Bob's out of government in that country. He is a dictator & only looks after his own pockets while the people of the country are suffering. They already have sactions against them, so why should we pay for their mistakes. South Africans are already paying for our own mistakes, we can't pay for another country's mistakes too.
I do support the idea of supporting Mozambique though, as they are trying to rebuild their country & are doing very well. They accept help from other countries & don't cause problems for their own, they try to solve their problems.

Commodore
Having lived many years in Zimbabwe, it was plain as day to see that Mbeki was supporting Bob in everything that he did from ages ago. SA doged and dived from the fact that they could have closed the doors on Zimbabwe when the farm grabbing begun but they didn't. They went on to support the issue of accepting millions of Zimbabweans as citizens by descent and millions more just followed through the unguarded fences. All that could have been stopped IF Mbeki really wanted to but nothing was done, so, wheither we like it or not, the tax-payers money will continue to line the pockets of Mugabe of which the people of Zimbabwe will see nothing.

Now, amajohoeza, a goffel (spelt goffal) is a Coloured.
I'ill have the million points now, thanks.

I think they should just build a fence around Zimbabwe... then bomb everything and everyone on the inside of that fence

I must say I would be willing to support Zimbabwe! Even further I think Zimbabwe should become part of South Africa if it wants a decent future. The only catch is that I would need a guarantee that Uncle Bob didn't get his sticky hands on the kroon! His treatment of anyone who isn't Shona is reprehensible, including the Matabele, White English, and the Goffels.....now, who can tell me what a goffel is.....a million Zim points for that!
VIVA ZIMBABWE, let's pray that we can hope for a better tomorrow for that people and country....

The link is from a political party that is trying to be alternative government. Their source is a newspaper report which quoted unidentified sources, which had also allegedly been briefed by sources within sources!!!!!!!

This is unbridled propaganda!!!!!!
