I am a Jew and NOT a Zionist. I may not have much support from my fellow Jews in this section, but I do stand for peace and am anti-anything against the 10 commandments, the 5th being THOU SHALT NOT KILL!

You're missing something. Not even all Israelis (I mean Israeli Jews, not Israeli Arabs) are Zionists.

No, not all Jews are Zionists. Zionists believe in the right for Israel to exist - that is a Jewish homeland built today in the land of Jewish heritage and antiquity. Most Jews believe this and thus are Zionists. However, the ultra-Orthodox as a rule do not believe this, because they believe that the Jews need to wait until the Messiah comes before the country of Israel will be refounded. Some extreme groups even make the news for doing things just to spite Israel, like going to Iran's holocaust denial conference (the most famous of these groups is Neturei Karta). I would also like to point out that unlike other countries in the Middle East, those groups still receive full Israeli rights and priveleges and aren't persecuted at all.
There is a substantial truth to what you say however; Arabs saying they don't hate Jews just Zionists is like me saying I don't hate Arabs just pro-Palestinians. Many people try to explain it away by stating that Zionism is a racist philosophy, but that's a lie. The fact of the matter is that those who hate "Zionists" happen to assume that any Jew they meet is a Zionist (assuming they meet any), so very often there is no difference.

EDIT: I would like to take this opportunity to point out another innaccuracy in the persona Chaim George (or George G). On this thread he posts he is against anything that contradicts the 10 commandments of which "the 5th being THOU SHALT NOT KILL! " [his words]. All religious Jews - and especially those as observant as he claims to be - knows that it is in fact the *6th* commandment. The fifth commandmant is to honour thy mother and they father. To many of you, this seems like no big deal, off by only one. However, there is a significant difference between the first five and the last five. The first five are known as spiritual commandments, in that they refer to matters between God and Man (the last between a man and his parents is the transition in that respecting/honoring one's parents has an element of the divine as well as an element of Man to Man). Furthermore, the actual translation of the commandment is "Thou shalt not *murder*", a very significant difference. Judaism is not a pacifist religion; in fact Jews are commanded to defend oneself as well as others. Even Abraham, the patriarch of the Jews, went to war to liberate his nephew (as well as others captured). I would have expected someone as Jewish as George to know all that.

No not all Jews are zionists, the same as not all Christians are zionists. Being of a political ideology and a religion is very different.

As a Jew, I can answer you this way, almost all of the ultra-left Jews (like Chomsky) and ultra-right Jews (like Naturei Karta) are not Zionists. In fact they can be classified as self-hating Jews for they openly support the enemies of the Jewish people. About 95-98% of all Jews are Zionists. Usually, they are divided upon two categories. These categories are Religious Zionists (they are centralists or rightists who believe that every inch of Israel belongs to the Jews, because G-d has said so) and Secular Zionists (these people are not religious and in some cases do not believe that every inch of the land was given to the Jews by G-d. Hence, they are the ones who are giving away Gaza and other territories in the West Bank).
The largest group of Jews in Israel is Secular Zionists (peaceniks-those who love to appease the World and Hamas). Only about 1/3 of Jews are religious Zionists in Israel. The religious Zionists are the true heroes of Israel they are the ones who live in the territories and everyday put their lives in jeopardy so that they can fulfill the mitzvah (commandment) of settling the land.

I would say that it inaccurate. There are THREE general classifications, Zionist, non Zionist, and anti Zionist. The non Zionists are those who aren't especially Zionist but still support the state of Israel and in many cases, quite vocally. I view myself as belonging to that group. I imagine that most anti Zionists would categorize me as a Zionist.

As is the case, in many cases, but not all, anti Zionism is thinly disguised anti semitism. This is especially true for some groups (e.g. Hamas) when, if you listen carefully, they use Zionist and Jew interchangeably. Also, if you here such things as "Zionist controlled media" or "Zionist controlled US congress" or "most powerful lobby" those are shades of anti semitism since they amount to saying things such as "Jewish controlled media".

Zionism was founded by secular Jews -- it took an intolerable situation after the holocaust for religious Jews to admit that Israel was the only option for escaping the atrocities of Europe. Even the U.S. without our proud Statue of Liberty admitted only a minimal number of Jews. The waiting list for admission was about 14 years. Few would have survived the wait.

I am not a Zionist, but I love Eretz Israel. I would be devastated to see its end, but I would be very much relieved if all the Israelis could move to the U.S. or any other safe place -- providing there is one.

They are forcing now what God told them the Messiah will do.
Zionists are impatient and God knows what they are doing and when the messiah comes, and sees what has happened, will deny His covenent with them again, because they are disloyal.

Excuse me, but I don't "lie" when I say I don't hate Jews. You are wrong to assume so. I respect all people, unless they disrespect me. I have a few Jewish friends, a couple are Atheist and don't practise Judaism, but they have culture and they are Jews none the less. I can say, that after having their sons taken to prison for no reason, and tortured for information they don't have, at the hands of Jews, that I don't blame some Muslims, and Christian Palestinians for hating Jews.

No, not all. Zionism is a political movement that contradicts the teachings of Judaism many times over. Hence, one who claims he/she is a Zionist and a Jew, does not know the true meaning of either.

Most polling when they are done on this matter show that over 90% of Jews are Zionists (although I once saw one study that only put the mark at 83%). This is all from memory. I was trying to find some data on the net to support my assertions here but haven't been able. Sorry

That's like asking if all Jews who live in Israel are practising Jews....we know they aren't but to all intents & purposes all we hear about is how the Jews have returned to their promised land !
What a crock ! It was promised to those who were faithful to Yahweh ...so the issue of what percentage of Israelis today who are true to their faith is pivotal to the question of ownership of the land & the dispute with the Palestinians !

Correct me if I am wrong but wasn't a whole generation wiped out before the children of Israel entered into the promised land ? Didn't they wander around the desert for 40 years , whinging & whining before every last one of that generation died !

Many Jews in Israel are anti-zionism; those are the ultra orthodox that despite living there, believe the Land of Israel should be given to Jewish people when the Messiah comes, not by politics and war.

Not all Jews are of course Zionists, specially if u r already born there...u r just Israeli.

See Jews in USA, or UK, or Brazil, or France...they live in their countries...they dont chose mostly to immigrate to Israel. We (jews) are all fond of the idea and rights of the existence of the State of Israel, but unless u engage politically, and do something, u r not Zionist.

Not all Jews are Zionists. Actually, Jews in America have loyalty first to America (like all good Americans). Zionism is the belief in efforts to attain a homeland. Technically, now that Israel exists, there's no need for Zionism per se...just a need for vigilance to maintain the homeland.
