Hey you are entitled to ask any question you like. The only way to find the answer is to ask right?

It's poverty. Poor people tend to have more children as:
1. The chance of children dying is higher through lack of health care and nutrition
2. The more kids the better your chances of being supported in your old age.
3. Education. If you haven't been to school and don't own a TV chances are good that you won't know any better about contraception, condoms and all that jazz. You might even suspicious of them.

Education to most isnt free like those condoms.
Are you aware of that? I mean to not be rude either, but how many people in rural areas have access to television, radio and are literate when it comes to reading? Actually, how many have access to all the worldly comforts you have right now that enable you to have the best health, education and etc?
Why would certain people even try and bother to take that initiative to educate people about family planning, if these people are already aware? Government initiatives arent always 100% effective as you cant reach all people.
There was a shocker of a story years ago about men in hostels reusing condoms and washing them. Why? Lack of that education about things such as condoms and risks of their usage.

Don't worry its a fair question.

If you look at any poor place in the world that's the case, the poor tend to have more children.

It all boils down to education.
And the worst part is that the girl teens get pregnant which adds to the problem.
Sad but that's the truth.

No they are not more fertile but there is genetic evidence to show that they reach puberty at an earlier age and of course education comes into it. Poepies raises the old Government but during those days there were 2 concerns. One the White birth rate was in decline and two the Black birth rate was exploding. There is historic evidence of huge growth in the Black birth rate going back over 60 years. When this was raised by the old Government as pending disaster given the ability of South Africa to sustain huge population growths it was greeted by Blacks as some evil plan on the Whites part.Today there is economic evidence that South Africa cannot maintain and sustain its current population of anywhere between 44 and 60 million people.

The fact that you started the body of your question by declaring that you are not a racist says much about your question. You go on to generalise. Your question is so badly worded - maybe it's because you are prejudiced. So, I doubt whether any amount of effort to explain the socio-economic situation of black people will change your prejudiced mind.

It's all a matter of education as Ayiza has said and it does not only apply to black people, In India it's even worse!

Some people don't matter what color or where they come from. Just don't care. They don't bother to stop and think these things through. I myself believe that if one doesn't have the means or health to have children. One should take precautions. I used to criticize people who do the things you mentioned. Until one day a lady said to me. Lina they are very poor and don't have much education. She said here in the states we have TV books etc.. we find out one way or the other how to avoid these things. So I had changed my mind for awhile. Until one day I saw a program. It was some place in Africa. Where they were trying to teach people about family planing. And how to prevent ST D's. Yet after teaching them. Most of the women would come back pregnant or with an STD. When asked. They gave dumb excuses like the partner fooling around with other women or not wanting to wear the condom. So you see. It's not ignorance as much as them being irresponsible.

It's about education levels: if you really look around not only the black people have so many children and are not able to feed them either. If you have proper education you learn to see that you have or haven't enough money for another child.

Well think about it, in the Apartheid years (now that we are on the subject this whole morning) the ANC told the young girls to get pregnant and build their nation and get their numbers more. That is what they were TOLD to do.

Now the education part, how do you educate this people while their own people told them to "produce"?

But the younger generation of course should be easier to educate. But look at the Adverts supported by government, they tell the kids about condoms, not about holding your willy and mousy in your pants..... Condoms prevent STD's (sexual transmitted diseases) not pregnancy!

i think you haven' t find out about yourself, that is why you focus on other people, life has nothing to do with so called racism ! Hi, Why would you ask a question about black women being more fertile that white women? Women are women and the color of their skin doesn't matter. I know your point on abandoning and feeding kids. That is over sea that you are talking about and they need to educate the people more about having babies who most end up very ill and lots of times death follows these children.

According to my source - black people believe that by having alot of children (&wifes) they are welfy. They will have as many children as possible with as many wife's as possible...

The "old school" once believed so, is in their culture.

I wont necessary say that blacks are more fertile than whites, there is some suburbs I know of where white families just carry on making babies, not even baring in mind where the money will come from.

If you tell a white man to make babies (eg. unlimmited and they will not be oblised to take care of them, im sure it will equal the status of the blacks)

Its all about morals.
