They are clearly not Arabs, some were assimilated by the Arabs during the crusades but had to change their religion to Muslim, I get this incoherent chat that they are mixed, well in very few cases where they have to convert to Islam they can never convert back or the Muslims converting to Christian faith, although everyone shares the same God, many people have different aspects on reality.

There exists many small Holy villages in Lebanon, which host the faith of the Maronites (Roman Catholics) St. Maron, and you can really tell that the population is indeed Aryan, Italian, French, Greek, and Spanish, and their taste in the village is an exact match to their culture, as for the snowy white mountains they seemed to have kept their colors with blond hair and blue eyes and kept their marriages in the family, same thing with the villages, it would be unlawful to their beliefs since some are Christian followers to the end.

To clarify things, no Christian faith Lebanese people are not Arabs but clearly Aryan (European), They can speak the language Arabic because they needed to learn it to survive because everyone one around them spoke it, and for merchant to understand sales, So I guess you can call them Lebo-phones because their "Legh-e-ya" way of accent or speaking is different and matches the Phoenecian Alphabet more, like you can call the anyone who speaks English an Anglo-phone or French a Franco-Phone.

but they Invented the Phoenician Alphabet which helped the world invent their language, then came Arabic which the Arabs developed after using the Phoenician Alphabet as an Idea!

The Lebanese who follow Islam are a nice mix, but you never know who is who, I see them with blond hair and blue eyes, green eyes too meaning that some of the Europeans had to convert to marry them.

If you want to see Arabs go to the Arabia Saudite where they are of Islamic faith.

Be proud everyone, after all we are all the same race!

There was evidence of Phoenician Philosophy, everything to settle this matter, and separate fact from fiction, it was destroyed by marauders in the 6th or 7th century though, I don't know why :( -if someone knows please help the Phoenician Civilization by contributing your knowledge.

But clearly your teasing a Lebanese once you call him Arabic, it's like calling an Indian a Paki, which you don't want to do.

There is a big difference between the people who are, they acknowledge it and are proud of it like the Arabs who love their people and are proud to be Arab, and those like the Lebanese who don't agree since their heritage is way has nothing to do with the Arabs and insist they are Phoenician which is true!.

Treat people with respect, and learn a few things about their background before jumping to conclusions.

Je vous aimes tous mes petites Cedres, grandissez et devenez fort!

They speak Arabic but ethnically they are a mixture between Arabs and the much earlier people who lived in the area, such as Phoenicians and Hittites.

That's why, along with people from the coastel region of Syria to the north, they're known as Levantine.

Egyptians also are only partly Arab; it has been shown by DNA research that they have a large degree of inheritance from the ancient Egyptians who were there for 3500 years before the Arabs arrived.

Yes and no.
It depends on what you mean by the word "Arabs".
The answer is the same as to this question:
Are english people europeans ?

DODI

Yes they are but they are more modern and open minded than all the Arabs put together.

Steevo
They are part of the Arabian league and that makes them Arabs i guess. Arabs were those who lived in the Arabian peninsula( Gulf countries today, KSA, UAE, Kuwait, Quatar Yemen etc.) after the rise of Islam all surrounding countries (Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Egypt then lybia Morocco Algeria and Sudan) became Arabs (they started speaking Arabic). Lebanon was concurred by the Romans at the time before Islam, before that was the Phoenicians.
Today Lebanon's official language is Arabic and most people speak Arabic, but most people also know french and many know both french and English.
Hope that makes sense to you! :)

Adham 1910
arab means that thier OFFICIAL lungaguge is arabic then yes they are arabs though most of them are frensh speakers

No, they are Semitic.

something crazy
we have adopted the arabic language, but we are not a race like indian, african, or chinese. The people from the gulf (khaleej) are a totally different race than us, but we all speak one language.

lebanese and palestinians have been conquered and mixed with south europe and arab invadors, they look more like south europeans than saudis but they speak arabic. so i guess that makes them Arab. although i once met a saudi girl who told me i wasnt arab because my skin and eyes were too light and all because we spoke the language doesnt make us one of them and we were just left overs from the Roman empire. whatever

Dr. X
i made a research on this qquestion last week. lebanon is a melting pot of arabe, and "ex"-phoenicians.
mostly muslim people are arabs and christians are old phoenicians.

SUM1_85
Yes they are.
But are they all Muslim Arabs? No.
There are Arab Christians in Lebanon, they number about 39% of the population.

And I don't think there are any Arab Jews.

Fadoud
yeah what do u think!??Chinese!!!???
