Poor you...I think you should have mentioned that you were talking specifically about Saudi Arabia. Maybe then people wouldn't have gotten so upset cuz the way you worded your question makes it sound extremely sexist.
If you aren't talking about SA and your question is generally talking about women everywhere, then I agree with everyone else. You're sexist and HOW DARE YOU ASK SUCH A DUMB QUESTION?!
If you are specifically talking about SA, then I apologize for yelling and I would like to say that I definately agree with you. Women should be allowed to drive. And something that I don't understand is, why is it ok for us to be alone with drivers but we can't drive ourselves?! It's irritating and frustrating to have to be dependant on a guy (father, brother, husband, driver) just to go out. And honestly, don't they realize that if women were allowed to drive, the accident rate would decrease. Everyone knows that men always have higher insurance than women cuz they drive more dangerously. No offence to the guys out there but it's true. Sure, everyone would be really excited at first, seeing women driving and I'm sure lots of guys would spend their days following women around but eventually, people would calm down and it would become a way of life. If women can drive in every other country in the world, and they haven't wrecked havoc on society yet, then why can't they drive here?! |

Ladies, Relax! He's from Saudi Arabia. Women can't drive there. It is a valid question still being debated where he is from. Don't kill him just yet! |

Of course they should drive..that would be depriving them of some of their rights. It would ridiculous to not allow all women to drive.. |

Of course I support women driving vehicles. What would a woman do if the man was away and a child had a catostrophic accident? Wait til her man comes home, meanwhile the kid bleeds to death, or goes into shock? Each and every person should have equal rights to accomplish any task they wish to. This is, after all, the twenty first century!! |

my wife is a trucker so I'm definately for women driving but I do think that they should put an age limit on driving, cause some of these old people just can't drive |

I am Saudi and I think we should drive..
You know.. its the male dominated government here who made that silly rule.. and I personally think if they have a problem with their wives and daughters driving then its an issue of trusting their "own" women.. maybe there is something in theirs that they need to address, not the mainstream women.. It surely would cut down on a load of drivers in Saudi, that do not follow any traffic rules.. They are the worst here.. Saudi traffic consistantly rates #2 or #3 worst in the world and its cause no one enforces any rules.. But just a stones throw across the water in Bahrain, everyone drives correctly.. WHY? cause they enforce the rules.. and women drive there safely and well... |

What does ANYTHING about gender have ANYTHING to do with driving or ANYTHING else? |

Anyone against women drivers is a completely ignorant chauvinist. I've seen bad women drivers, but I have also seen my fair share of bad male drivers too. |

Yes for sure ! as some people have said gender should not be a barrier for being able to do a basic task as driving ! I do think that the women in some of the middle eastern countries get a very rough deal in life and I feel very lucky to have grown up in a free country ! Good Luck :-) |

Female drivers should definitely be allowed to drive, and they could drive better than most male drivers |

I hope also they will allow us soon…… We hearing a lot of rumors these days …..I’m wondering who behind them!……Is it the government testing the public respond or the exhibiters trying to make some troubles or maybe it is part of plan to send many messages to the conscious and the subconscious so people get use and finally accept the new inevitable law! …It could be also tries to make people live (sord of )false hope that change will come soon....I know I carried away with my thoughts .However, the thing that I’m sure about that many (if not the majority) of Saudis (M+F) are against women driving even though it has nothing to do with Islam teach . I hate when things being so complicated. |

I'm sure you must mean in Saudi Arabia. I believe Saudi women should drive. But, it would be a problem with the veils covering their faces and in most cases their eyes. They would be accident prone because their line of vision would be limited. If this were to change, then it would be ok. But this will not happen because S.A. is a patriarchal society which views its women as second class citizens and not entitled to the same privileges as men. |

i live in saudi arabia n i personally feel tat women must be allowed 2 drive cauze in these holidays ive been 2 malaysia n singapore n ive seen there tat almost majority among the people driving were women n they were very cautious n respectfull 2 all the road safety measures n every thing was followed in respect of driving: safety measures, traffic rules n every thing
n not only malaysia ive been 2 other countries 2 n ive noticed this .....personally i feel tat women r better in driving than men.........cauze i know tat u also know how men r at driving............in KSA
n havent u read all the news in saudi gazzette .....like many times there were news abt women who had no other choice but 2 drive by breaking the law 2 SAVE their family........like there was 1 women who had 2 break the law n she did by driving cauze her father was going 2 die n she was helpless n she had no other choice but 2 drive n take her father 2 the haspital which is wht she did............
