it's crazy, i'm trying to imagine any other country in the world who would do such a thing. can you imagine the americans discussing whether to return washington to the native americans? no of course not.

no democratic country would stand such a crazy demand, so why should we have to return our city to the arabs?!!?

It has been said that Israel wants to give up east Jerusalem, not all Jerusalem, and in return build a highway that will cut off east Jerusalem from the West Bank further cutting off Palestinians, yet bringing more control! Yes it sounds like a stupid plan to me! Peace!

I do agree with you Tabatha, but that Price of Compromise should be fair , do you think so? I mean if you put together the westbank, east Jerusalum and the gaza strip and compare it with the area Israel has, Israel still has more land. But that can be accepted. So whats all the problems about? International UN Resolution 242 is the only way for peace.

The part that you are talking about was OCCUPIED. It was palestinain before the 1967. Don't start telling me that God gave it to the Jews. God is not real estate and he doesn't distribute lands!.

Jerusalem is as important to Muslims as it is important to the Jews and Christians. It is a holy land for all religions and all three relgions have the right to share it.

I have just returned from visiting Israel for the first time.
I visited Jerusalem.
The Jerusalem I had always imagined, it turned out, is the Old City.
The Temple mount, etc. - The religious centre, not just of Israel and the 'Holy Land', but of much of the world.
The rest of Jerusalem was 'just' buildings.
I saw the 'wall' snaking across distant hills.
Jerusalem.
No one can 'give up' Jerusalem.......it is always there and will be for a very long time to come.

In any negotiations between Israelis and Palestinians, BOTH sides are surely going to have to make huge compromises.

And neither side will probably end up feeling like they got the best results.

Peace is going to come at a price, for everyone.

It will have to be shared once a Palestinian homeland is established. It cannot be divided and partitioned. There are a lot of security concerns in regards to that matter. I don't know how the issue of access will be managed with all those surrounding Jewish neighborhoods east and north of Jerusalem.

Jerusalem must return as a capital for the 3 revealed religions to stop war and resistance.

I am an American and I am Jewish. I have never been to Israel but read the news. Not just the American News, but British, Israeli, and others. I have no right to tell Israel what to do.

I do have an opinion. Enjoin the West Bank and the Gaza Strip to Israel. Allow them the full rights of being Israeli. They should be able to vote, form political parties, and have all the rights as anyone else in the country. They would have to follow the laws of Israel and have to be drafted into the Israeli Army. Full citizenship is the only way to have peace.

Now I have said my piece. Am I right, I do not know. Am I wrong, again I do not know. But to me it seems like a logical solution to a no win scenario.

Nothing has happened yet - lets see how it goes. As well all know the Arabs always find a way to still a loss from the jaws of victory. If the Arabs had gone along with the Oslo accords they would have gotten everything they wanted and then they went a blew it - they will probably do so again.

I want to know how "we" have any right to give away anything of Jerusalem. Jerusalem needs to stand up to the U.S a little and rule their country as they wish. Our political correctness and forced fairness will eventually make Jerusalem obsolete. The U.S needs to butt out of their business and let them decide without any outside influences. I say once you conquer a land like they did with Palestine they should not have to give any of it back to them.

Sharon gave up Gaza and now his number two is giving Jerusalem it runs in Kadima.

Jerusalem has been the capitol for the Jews for a millennium before there were Christians or Muslims.

Mecca is the holiest city for Mos ems, and they will not even allow any non-Moslem's to enter. If some group came along now that chose Mecca as a holy city, the Moslem's still would not let them enter.

Yet, they want half of Jerusalem!

oh, they can have control over the arab parts of east jerusalem, i don't care about that. that's a concession we have to live with. they will have to live with giving up their silly right-of-return request.
