Hell no. The last time I moved, I took the big black kitchen spider with me. Caught it, put him in a bottle and set him free in my new kitchen. I was afraid the new people would kill it. It never bothers me. And I don't even know what a fly looks like anymore. Haven't seen one in years; thanks to old blacky! Roaches are not my thing. You see one, you know you're in trouble. But Park Town prawns? Now those can make me grill, in fact goose bumps are already creeping over my body. Yeeeee! I woke up early one morning to find one huge guy, a centimetre away from my nose, sitting on my pillow, just staring..... The neighbours did not need their alarm clocks that morning! I got rid of him with a bucket and tennis racket. I did not kill the guy. Have a look at this, that is exactly what I woke up to. Some are bigger than a thumb.

And those 'ginormous' roaches in Durban yeeee, that can fly ooooh, and start running after you when they land whaaa....apparently because they are dashing towards a shadow, to hide. But one still feels followed.
Chameleons and mice are beautiful. Shongololos too! |

I love them! Mostly because they're so fascinating!
Mice can make really sweet pets, though hamsters are far cuter! (biased).
Our home is, quite literally, crawling with tarantulas, hissing roaches, crickets and praying mantis's.
Interesting to watch and always excellent ice breakers! |

Having played with them all my life, its just the centipede that we have in the fynbos region is highly venomous so no its beter left alone.
I miss seeing all the Brown House snakes tho, they seem to be dying out. |

Hello,
I have had all these as pets but the chameleons and only because I could not afford the price of purchase.
Centipedes are poisonous and need to be handled with care.
I have has snakes, scorpions, all sorts of bugs (even had a breeding colony of hissing bugs which are Madagascar cockroaches). Spiders, lizards, rodents, almost felt so sorry for a monkey, almost started making payments on him (he throw his poop at me and that was the turning point). Horses, cattle, goats, sheep, pigs are fantastic pets!
I love critters. Had a wolf and a alligator dumped on my door step. Alligator got sent to Florida, wolf was going to a sanctuary but friends wanted her (sanctuary's are so full that it is hard to find placement). Some of the critters that came into my hands were illegal. One was illegal in a place I moved to and the Seattle zoo with a signed document from a judge (I still have it) broke into my place and took it then sold it to another zoo (a snake I guess I should add it was a puff adder, which might be illegal all the way around but it was givin to me. ). One learns sometimes the hard way.
Nothing in nature if understood should ever be feared. Though people need to realize some of these critters eat live food. One has to realize what real nature is all about, meaning the food chain. Nature is gory, cruel and nasty, just like people are.
For respect of my mr I hardly have any critters like I used too. He gets creeped out so what does one do..... |

I love chameleons. We used to have lots of them in our hedge. The only "thing" I will not hold in my hand is a cockroach. I have picked up so many rats and mice that our cats and dogs caught on the farm. Even moles, poor things. And another "thing" that freaks me out is the big white larvae of the rose beetle (actually called a rose chafer):

Be careful when you chuck them in the fire, they explode and splatter all over the place! |

not too sure about centipedes, but chameleons and mice are fine.
I think rats made mice look bad, because they are very similar but rats are steriotyped as very unhygenic, even though rats clean themselves very efficiantly |

Mice are fine (if domesticated, not picking up feral mice, I'd rather not have to get rabies shots if it bites me one).
Chameleons are neat though I don't know if I'd hold one. I'd touch it though if it was just hanging out peacefully on a log or something.
Centipedes? Ew. No. Too many legs. I will admit to squeamishness about bugs. |

I like living creatures.
I'm just cautious when they're poisonous! |

Ag! Centipedes! My house gets them quite a bit, and they give me the horrors. They have a nasty bite, never mind anything else, like looking horrid and so on. Lots of specialized insecticide generally does the trick. |

I am scared of Ghekko's, chameleons and snake's. Ghekko's because they always fall on me and one once fell into my cleavage and i nearly weant beserk. Chameleon's, when they open their mouths , get cross they make that strange hissing sound, uuurrrgggh, scary. Snakes because they feel cold and horrible like i imagine a dead body would feel.
Mice, centipede's etc i am not scared of them at all.:) |

Doesn't bother me in the least.
I have 4 pet mice.
And I spent 2 summers handling millipedes at the zoo to freak out parents.
And why would people be creeped out by chameleons? They are only lizards. |

Totally creeped out! Let me tell you about my last encounter with a centipede. One night I was up late in my bed room trying to figure out what to wear the next day. I started to head back to my living room area when this centipede ran cross my door way! I grabbed a can of raid and sprayed that thing until the can was almost empty! The thing was making all kinda funny curves as it was dying....totally gross.
They just have toooo many legs! |
