Wait...I don't understand. When did the South Africa category in Answers become a place to bash the US and UK? It's great to be a proud South African, and I love that country so much, and would rather be there than here in the US. However, please don't use your pride as an excuse to offend people from other countries. We all know that there are lots of dangerous places in the world, sure, and no urban area is free from violent crime. So why don't we take the focus off the violence in these countries, all collectively ignore the couple of people that keep posting answers regarding the crime rate in South Africa, and instead focus on other questions about the country, and what a great place it truly is despite the problems it faces...problems, I might add, that many other countries throughout the world have or are currently experiencing. May God bless America, the United Kingdom, and South Africa! :)

Yes UK has problems with football violence - firms congregate to cause trouble at games. This is just once a week though...

Doesn't really touch on all the other violence that happens all day every day...

i think you'll find that both the USA and the UK are a lot safer than Jo'burg! I am pretty sure that out of countries where English is a common language SA has more murders per population!

The difference being America's gun laws are fairly relaxed in comparison to Britain's. I know which I'd rather be up against. At least the murder rates are lessened because football violence is more of a backstreet street boxing event ( I know this is a slightly naive statement to make). The object is rarely to kill another human being, just to prove how dangerous and hard you are.
It's a man thing.
Actually, if you look at the recorded incidents in relation to the population count, it's a rarity.

You need to get your facts correct before you make such statements. In South Africa you have 12 times more chance of being murdered than a US citizen and 50 times more chance than a UK citizen and that is only one statistic.The problem is that South Africans are so used to violent crime that they think living like that is normal. Soccer? The game is called "football" and we invented it. Best you and Chucky stick to egg chasing ( which we also invented) although your not very good at that either as you get thrashed every week. LOL
