Look being open minded has limits in itself, everything in life has limits, yr strong personal beliefs help u establish boundaries that keeps everything within the perspective of right and wrong so actually yr beliefs helps u become more open minded.

Yes , I am open minded and very to be , but there are somethings which I cannot stand for a minute , bigotry , stupidity and ignorance. I don't bother myself debating with any of those , and no I don't change my personal beliefs!

The problem is that I feel that I am not accepted in this society , which made me more introvert and depressed.

I am very tight with my personal beliefs but yet I can call myself "Open-Minded".
I don't mind dealing with others who have different beliefs as long as that does not cross my own.

By respect others even they have different way of thinking or different beliefs or different personality, but that's hard in Egypt ,

Abt myself , I dont know, maybe I'm open minded , maybe I'm not, but i respect the others , but there is some limits also , bcoz being open minded will not make u for example do something which hurt the other or which is wrong in ur religion,

i think this a prefect description of me :-)
i was raised in europe so i believe i am open-minded. however i chose islam and i try to follow my religious beliefs. and still i don't judge ppl too much if theydo sth against my beliefs.

being open-minded doesn't mean i give up my beliefs,it means that i accept other opinions and respect other beliefs...not to attack somebody just for he/she believes in sth else...
i listen to everybody's point of view...but stick to what i believe in

I don't think they contradict, let me tell you what I think about each which makes me think so;

Being open minded means to accept others with whatever differences or disagreements you have and know and BELIEVE that coincidence between people in points of view is AGAINST diversity Allah has created in us, it's natural to have such disagreements.

Having strong beliefs means to believe what you believe in to the extent that NOTHING in this world can make you doubt them.
For instance, I have religious beliefs, and WHATEVER happens, I hear, or watch myself with my own eyes, I won't doubt these beliefs.

I think you can. I am always interested in listening to what others believe, i keep my own thoughts & my integrity, but there is nothing wrong with healthy discussion. I have found in my chats with many of my friends, Buddists, Muslims, Hindu's & Christains, that i have learnt so much, but i keep my faith. Though i do think that my beliefs have evolved due to my interests in others.

What i dont like, is the closed minds of those strong in their beliefs that try to ram it down others throats, or those that have no tollorance for other peoples views. & dont get me started on the racist, sexist & homophobic crew........................ you dont wanna know what i think of people like that.

Definitely, because you have control over being open-minded.

However, by personal beliefs, I assume you mean religion. These are aspects which you don`t have any control over. They have been said and done, and its your choice (again open-minded) on how you interpret and follow these beliefs.

i don't think i have to give up my beliefs in order to be open-minded. i can be open-minded; accepting ppl the way they are, as well as trying new kind of foods and meeting ppl from around the world, and being a good person at heart and and action, keeping my priorities first; my family that is. Making good money from a good job, not stealing, nor cheating, nor lying - white lies don't count i suppose :P

I think so. I think that people can have their opinions and not be so full of themselves that they can understand where someone else is coming from. This is a poor example but I don't eat pork, I have done research into it and that is something I will not eat. I feel strongly about not eating pork, yet I don't mind if other people feel that pork is a staple in their diet.
