Of course! Africa is much more industrialized than what people outside imagine.

They have Technological industries also producing Electronics brands like African super master (dvd players, generators e.t.c) that is SOUTH AFRICA.

NIGERIA also produces one of the best (if not the best) Wires and cables in the world. They also have consumable producers like UAC FOODS, PZ industries, Dangote industries e.t.c and Drugs and chemical industries who produce
cosmetics
drugs
Household chemicals e.t.c
food items and so on

Just to mention a few... Africa is not a thicket of bushes anymore. A great place you should try to visit. Africa is blessed

South Africa, the biggest economy in Africa, contributing a third of the continent's GDP, has many big international companies.
De Beers, that control diamaond trade worldwide, is one. Denel produces cutting edge weaponry with exports to Europe and China. Eskom is a multibillion dollar venture that supplies electricity to a number of countries in southern Africa. www.youtube.com was a SA venture until it was sold a year or so ago. The big gold mining companies, Rembrandt International, TV networks with international broadcasting, SASOL (SA oil company), etc.

South Africa is a well driven oiled machine (excluding all the negative points of our government) - we doing quite well I think.

You should read more about SA & learn a few things to pass on to your friends.

People around the world have this idea that everyone in SA or any African Country -runs around naked & live in the bush!

Hey Chris, of course we do... we have Kellogs, McDonalds, KFC, Guess stores, Louis Vuittone stores... etc... etc... etc... we're not so backward you know. In MANY ways, we are a first world country (electronic banking etc.), yet, in others we are third world (public transport systems)... The only thing backwards here is the crime...

Well mostly we're bombarded with your companies... but there are a lot of home grown companies as well (South Africa)... such as Simba (potato chips and other snacks), SABS (south african breweries), Eskom, telkom, busa, SABC, SAA, FCB (ad agency)....etc, etc

They are just subsidiaries of Western Companies and most of those Companies are registered outside of Africa. South Africa under White rule was as near to being a first World Country as you would find in Africa but since 1994 it has headed back towards the Caveman era. Fortunately there are still a few Western companies to keep the place viable but it is only a matter of time before they are destroyed as is normal African practice. As a race Africans are not innovators unless it is crime and perhaps as civilisation takes a stronger grip they will progress to this level.
