Yes, your still entering a different country.

yes u need visa

i have done this many times and assuming you have an english passport, yes you do unless you are going to the Sinai peninsular, your visa will cost you approximately £10 or 100LE. you can buy it at the airport . just go to one of the little booths on your arrival give over your cash in your currency either £ or $ or Euros not Egyptian, they will give you two small stamps which you can stick in your passport on a clean page and then go to the passport booth to get it stamped.
however if you are only going to the Sinai peninsular and staying no more than two weeks and are not intending to leave even for a day, then you do not need a visa.

the_moma
no

if you go to sinai area no unless you go diving if you go to egypt itself eg cairo' luxor or diving yes it costs 15 quid at airport 20 quid from embassy in england hope this has helped you

hazeltine4
Yes, you do need a visitor's visa. It is a small paper stamp that goes on a page in your passport. Then the Immigrations agent stamps over the paper stamp with his ink stamp, both entering and exiting. I arranged for my visa stamp before I got there, and my tour coordinator had the stamp in his hand when he met us getting off the plane. Otherwise, you have to get the paper stamp before going through immigrations.

Most countries do not require visas, and some (China) you can only order ahead of time. But Egypt you can get when you arrive.

it depends. According to a website I was looking at, it said that if you enter the country at a specific place, you don't need a visa for 2 weeks.

Otherwise, you do need a visa, but you don't need to apply for it beforehand. There are forms there that you can fill out. Apparently, on the flight to Egypt, forms are handed out before you land!

brainstorm
yes

Alex
Hi there, you have not mentioned which part of Egypt you will be visiting...........I have now lost count of the amount of questions that have given you wrong information....Sorry guys know you were all trying to help!....Thumbs up to Sabrina who has explained it so well.
I dislike the fact that you get off the plane & your faced by rep's of dithering co's practically forcing you to buy visa's.....not a very good welcome, or first impression to such an extremely beautiful country that houses such hospitable people(outside of the airport) Get past this & you will have the most fantastic holiday ever...Guaranteed!!!
If you are travelling to Sharm & intend to just chill around the pool or on the beach then DO NOT purchase one...your rep will probably tell you that you need one & i know so many people that have visited here, who say they have been pressured into buying one at the airport......NOT NEEDED unless you intend to travel outside of Sharm. Also you can pay in Egyptian pounds, a friend of mine purchased one Sunday week ago for 120LE,she told me that one co., asked £5 more than the others(that particular co.,will take £,$ euro) .. it is mainly the European co's that charge excessive amounts, so watch for this also, it would have cost her 200LE had she adhered to the travel rep's instructions!!
Incidently, the card you are given on the plane to complete is for NON EGYPTIAN ARRIVALS,(this allows the government to keep up to date records of the amount of visitors entering, their country of origin, passport details etc.,) this MUST be completed before you go through passport control & you hand this across with your passport, the card will be kept, for their records, & your passport will be returned, the officer will probably tell you you need a visa(if you have not already purchased one ,of course) just reply " I AM VISITING SHARM ONLY"!! You will also need to complete one of these cards when you are departing, you will be given this when you check in you luggage, this Must be completed &,once again, handed in at passport control. I wish you a great holiday & a big welcome....the 1st of many!!

There's a discussion forum on various holiday destinations (see link)
Regarding VISA for Egypt:Please ensure you are in possession of a full 10 year British passport which should be valid for at least 6 months beyond your return date to the U.K. Non-British passport holders should check visa requirements with the Embassy.
FOR PASSENGERS ARRIVING AT CAIRO, LUXOR, ASWAN, HURGHADA, a visa is required and may be obtained on arrival for a charge of US$17.
FOR PASSENGERS ARRIVING AT SHARM EL SHEIKH or TABA, a local sinai entry stamp is automatically given on arrival. If you are on a 15 night or longer holiday, diving in Ras Mohamed National Park, visiting Cairo or any oher part of Egypt except the Sinai a FULL VISA IS REQUIRED, which can be obtained on arrival for a charge of US$17.

You do but they should give you all the papers to fill out on the plane then you take it to the desk and they stamp it and stamp it when you go out, so its not to much hassle.

Hope that helps x

Yes you will be given a landing card on the plane with all the details. When I went to Hurghada we had to pay 10 English pounds, very simple I think you pay as you go through passport control or thereabouts.

Its funny how you need a visa to go to Egypt yet you don't need one to go to Indian Ocean as I recently found out!

Yes you do, or at least you did when I went to Sharm el Sheik for 2 weeks in 2003, that was before the bomb too, so probably more so now. You need to send your passport off, not sure where, the friend who booked ours sent them all away together, but the info should be in your holiday brochure.

Yes - buy it at the airport in Egypt but remember you don't have to go in a specific queue go to a desk where no one else is queuing.
