Do we "Have" to love our parents?

Well , I am typing this answer to you while my eyes are clouded with tears , I didn't know that I love my father to that extent , till he passed away on 5th of last june.
I can smell his cigarette scent .. his coffee .. his candles .. burning matches almost everywhere in my house , which became like a haunted house after he left us , I take night shifts in ths hospital cuz I can't sleep in it ...........

most of us go through times of not loving or even feeling that we hate our parents. but generally this is fairly short lived. Most parents want what is best for you ( i say most becuase there are a few exceptions) its just that what they see as best for you, is not always what you see as being best for you. try to come to some kind of compromise, its easier on all of you. consider carefully what they say and for one moment just consider what if they are correct and you are wrong in which case is their advice good?? try to explain to them how you feel and why. hard to belive i know but they were young once too may be they just need reminding of what it feels like. and if after all that you are still angry and upset wait a few years it will get better..... honest. i know cos i am a daughter and a mum to three pretty much grown up kids.

before anything else, we should give them supreme love and respect despite of things they've done or did not do. afterall, if not for them, we would have not existed at all.

No you don't have to love your parents. Even if one feels like they don't love their parents at a point they still do is an unconditional love something you can separate away from easily.

Parents sometimes get it wrong they are human to and sometimes feels unfair to say the daughter or the son and they may feel they hate their parents but it's frustration. They are allowed to get it wrong there is no instructions to being the perfect parent it comes with communication and learning from mistakes.

I think it is hard not to love our parents after all they have brought you up and they just want the best for their children.

no, we don't have to do ANYTHING in life we don't want to do. there are ALWAYS options. Ppl. box themselves into corners and claim there aren't other choices.

No, we don't "Have" to love them. But we do it without any reason, we do it because they are OUR parents. We love them more than anything. Maybe sometimes we have a little conflict with them or argue with them, but they still are and will be our parents. Who spent sleepless night? Who took the little baby to the hospital? Who helpt us to learn to speak and to go? The love of our parents is in our heart, we are born with it and we will die with it.
