We buy ours from a little shop near our home. Interestingly it is run by a lovely Hindu family; they have extended the shop so it has a fabulous kosher section, as there are quite a lot of Jews in our area. The Hindu brothers who work in the shop are great and they know a lot about Judaism; they know about all the holidays and festivals etc.

Mimi: challah is, I think, almost a bit like cake, in that it's very rich and a bit sweet. You can get it in Canada, try it and let us know what you think!

It's delicious with all sorts of things on it; jam, chocolate spread, herring, cream cheese.....

If you get one, don't get one that's already been cut/sliced; get one that is still whole, then the fun is cutting or breaking off a great big chunk!!

Buy it!!!
Once my friend baked one for me by herself - its so much better.
But I don't like to cook or bake - so I buy it.
Challah is gooooood. My kids like it especially as france toast!!!

Personally I bake it. There's nothing better than fresh, home-baked challah.

Do it myself.
Until last bakeries strike I used to buy it, during the strike I started to bake and discovered that it is very easy, fun with the kids and spread grate scent in the house, so I continued after the strike was over.

I buy it of course - or have someone buy it for me - let's face it I am a single guy (well I do have a very cute girlfriend) - you think I am going to cook challah - I'd burn down my apartment complex if I tried.

We tried to make our own one friday afternoon but it didnt work so we just buy it.

Well truthfully I would love to make it every week but it does get hard with the small oven I have here. Also, you can buy such delicious challah here and it is so much easier. But if you do want to make challah ever, try to get hold of a Bosch bread making machine because they are the easiest and best to use!

altohugh i`m not jewish i`d buy it if i wanted one ( which i want to next time i`m in golders green ) personally i would`nt make it because i`d make a mess of the braiding why mess things up stick at what you do best

my family would revolt if I bought it. I tried it once when I was sick and nine months pregnant. They were not pleased with me or with it.
