I have been 'doing jobs' for a long time.
My lease of life was given to me when I rediscovered my career, which is a very respected job here in UK.. sadly not in most arab countries :( nevertheless to make someone happy about their appearance is priceless Btw am a Hairdresser & I dabble in makeup art too apparently am 'gifted' lol

I like to convince myself of that..no different than anyone else.
Sometimes i think to myself, as long as i m making difference to the smallest circle around me which is my family..then somehow my life has a value and there is a purpose that i serve..
Of course every person would like to get the circle as bigger as it can get, i.e. influence more lives and do more good.
But most of the time, you feel you have no other choice and something like "what do you want me to do?" emerges in my head, i m just doing "a" job and that is my life worth nothing on the large scale..
But when this happen to me, i start looking at the bigger picture, and i start thinking of great men and women who did great deeds in life and where are they now? How God will look at them? i get some peace eventually..and i return to the convincing part of being useful to my smallest circle..at least. |

Yes, very.
I think that my job is really very important. I dunno if i am doing it well or not, but it in itself is great.
I'm a teacher, and i feel that I'm helping teens to be better persons each day and to think about their future.
Even.....I am doing it since lot of years, and my best reward is when some "old" student sees me in the street and stop to talk with me...or to introduce his wife or kids to me.
That makes me very happy, bcoz it shows that they still remember me and that we have a nexus in spite of the years.
This is the best, and I wouldnt change what I do for nothing else in the world.
I agree with Chloe.........we missed you and were asking where you had gone.

well im studying pharmacy and i do work in 1.....these days pharmacy became more about selling drugs only but i try to do more thru counseling patients |

i feel that everything that i do has a purpose..... even though i dont work i still consider everything else i do has a purpose.... do you have a job "with a purpose" for me????

you know In The US we lose the meaning of value. I feel that we should value family life and friends and what not but its really hard in the united states to get by the cost of living is so high that we have to work so much that we miss out on so much. I really think it depends on your job. a lot of of are just doing a job, but there are also many of us who truly enjoy and value what we do. If you are in a field where you get pleasure out of helping others or doing something you really like everyday then you value it but if you are busting your butt to make ends meet or to support habits and what not then you have no value and purpose why would you if your missing out on things and people around you that you really care about. |

well i don't work, but I am raising my kids and I hope that what I do has value. I am not just doing a job I love what I am doing and I do it with pleasure. |

What you do to earn an income doesn't necessarily define who you are or what your value is to society.....
Often it is merely a means to an end ! What is more important is how you use ALL of the skills & talents God has blessed you with .......sometimes that is way over & above your work routine .
As for me ..... sometimes I sit & ask myself why I am doing what I am doing ! Then a little voice inside says to me ....... "because I gave you this job so that you can do what I want you to do ! "
So , if God is the one who ultimately defines our purpose in life , who am I to argue ! |

even if you're just "doing a job" you are touching people's lives and helping them in a way or the other, so every tiny person and whatever he does on earth is of value and serves a purpose
For me, I'm just a Mom, but I think I'm doing an OK job and making a difference in my sons lives and maybe other people's lives too |

I first studied social sciences hoping that I would be doing a difference, but I got caught up in academia. I guess everyone gets caught up in the routine and then stops trying. I am trying to make up for it by volunteering here and there. I hope I will eventually have my Battered Wives' foundation for I think violence against women in this country is still accepted as a regular social fact, which is DEPLORABLE. So hopefully when I graduate you all help me fund it... |
