Oh goodness yes. I have this friend and sometimes she wants something, sometimes she doesn't and when we first got to know each other it was hard to tell what was up. She'd call and say, "Hey, how's it goin' what are you planning on doing today." I'd be like, "Oh nothing, things are good. I was thinking of running to Target later this afternoon, but we'll see." (Dumb me thinking maybe we could go to lunch together or hang out) She'd say, "Good, because I have something for you to do" -like she was my freaking mom giving me a chore or something! |

Yes. I think everyone has (or had) at least one friend like that. Once I brought two sodas to a party, one for me and one for someone else. I went to give my friend the soda I brought him, I set mine down for a second, and my "friend" opened it and started drinking it, without even asking! And yes, he definitely saw me put it down. It wasn't even cold, for crying out loud.
I told him I downloaded some songs, and he gave me this long list of stuff he wanted me to get for him. But I was using iTunes - he ASSUMES I did something illegal. So, basically, he thinks I don't mind doing illegal things and is trying to get free stuff while throwing me under the bus at the same time. Earlier I mentioned setting off some fireworks on my birthday, and he complained that it'd probably be illegal and he "didn't want to get involved." WTF is that?
I'm glad you put "friend" in quotations, because he won't be my "friend" much longer. |

Yeah, loads. Most people who call themselves 'friends' are only for their purposes.they're selfish and self-centered,they'll be your friend cause they get something outta it..And if you're not one of those, you always wonder if any real friends do exist, gotta just learn to accept that they're that way.
My 'best' friend has no time for me in 6 months, but I'm her excuse for all of her getaway reasons for the last 16 yrs.Gotta accept that you cant push them away, you'll find more of them.Just gotta make sure you aren't being taken for a ride or for granted. To hell with the rest! |

Yep. My chick that cuts my hair.
Every once in a while she'll call me and ask if I need my hair cut. It's usually because she's strapped for cash.
Sometimes she'll call me and ask if I can get any "special stuff" even though I've told her a hundred times that I haven't been associated with the "special crowd" for years. And it can't be at a normal time either. It has to be at about an hour before dawn. I'll bet if I called her needing a ride to the hospital at that hour she'd hang up on me. What a jerk... |

Yeah, but it's a mutual thing were both busy people with family and work. She's my cousin so we spend holidays together, We both know if the other ever needs something, they can always rely on the other to be there no matter what. |

Yep, they come and they go but hey, I'm the true friend and she's not...nothing wrong with that as long as your holding up to your own standards. |

Who doesn't? I think these people are just deadweights and whenever they let you down when you need something you need to remember that so you can keep them at a safe distance from your "real friends." |

Yeah my friends has called me when she wanted panda express. I came late to realize that but, did. And I've talked to her about it and we have gotten better at where we stand. |

THE MIGHTY NEWCASTLE KNIGHTS!
|
Yes Unfortunatley I do.
It is sad becuase it comes between you.
We (My Hubby & I) have a friend that uses us as a Taxi Service when he has had too much to drink becuase he wife hangs up on him and refuses to drive him, so instead of walking home for 2 hours he rings us.
We then feel in turn that it becomes a moral obligation becuase if something happened to him on the way home and we turned him down, we would feel responsible. |

i guess they wouldn't be considered friends from an objective point of view, but it seems all my family and "friends" only call me when they want something. and when i just want to talk, they are not interested. So that is why i like to keep my distance from them. And find new friends that can hold their own. |
