I like dropping into the SA site, I miss my country so much, and all the people.
I know mine and it is fine. But it is no longer just a disease which belongs to one ethnic group. It is rife and on the rise in ALL the Asian countries, (outside of China), and 20 years ago my doctor in Sandton, told me that he was treating many patients with HIV.
If you don't know, then basically, if you are sleeping around, you are like murdering people. That is the bottom line. They owe it to society to have themselves tested. |

I've had an HIV test run for insurance purposes about 2 years ago, but have not been tested since. My lifestyle does not fall into that category where I believe myself to be at risk of obtaining HIV. |

during my days of addiction, i shared needles with people, and did have unprotected sex.
thankfully i am HIV negative, and go for tests twice a year. |

We both had tests prior to marriage and neither of us fools around so I dont see the need to go and have further tests.
By the way I have on a number of occasions sat at the bedside of those in the last throes of dying through AIDS and it is not a pretty sight. For those who dont want to know their status - what a mistake. The sooner you know the better for ARV's can prolong and give you a quality of life you otherwise will not experience. In saying that prevention is the best cure and leading a risky or promiscuous lifestyle is foolhardy in the extreme. |

I,m a blood donor and I am also required to have the test annually for my job. According to my lifestyle I would only acquire aids from a transfusion and nothing else. As at the last test, I am negative. I have seen Aids patients and wow! it's not a pretty sight, much worse than cancer. |

I donate blood regularly, and if I had any infections or similar ailments, then I would be notified asap. So, yes, I reckon I am clean. People who think that they are better off not knowing, are VERY irresponsible and rather immature in their outlook on life. |

Negative and loving it. I do tests regularly, as do the women in my life. And people who believe their "lifestyles" make them immune to it, I have just this to say; your lifestyle may not be as predictable as you think... |

Yes, I know my status as well and also due to insurance requirements. My motto is, do not mess around and you shall be safe. However, once should have these tests at least once a year. |

I know mine because of insurance purposes and the fact that some Middle Eastern countries require doctors prove from South Africans that they are not HIV positive. |

i tested three times this year, when i get home in December I'll test for the 4th- anytime i face a task that includes a public mention of HIV i start by testing so i do not lie to my audience. |

To hold a work permit in the country where I work, I need to go for, among other things, an HIV test once a year. So yes, I do know my status. |

I know my status and do the test every year. |

I had one when I found out I was pregnant, that was 2years ago and since then I go every 6 months, I have one partner. My Hiv status is negative. YAY! |

Never had a HIV test. But, unless you can get it from Evil Magic Fairies, then I should be okay! |

Alf never stops surprising me. That was a great answer.
The last time I checked was June this year. I must admit it's not an easy task. Every time I check something must be forcing me to do it. Anyway, for the fact that my house insurance was approved it means I'm still ok. |

Can I respond to this question by asking a question?
in SOUTH AFRICA, what would you guys say the HIV rate is? per the population in south africa.
I'd say out of 1,000,000 people in the U.S, only 15% (low) to 30%(high) of them have every actually been tested for HIV. I don't know why it's not more common here. |

I know mine……I regularly test…….The other day we were discussing this with a friend …..we remarked about the anxiety when waiting for results even if you know that you hadn’t been in risky situations between the last time you tested and then….. |

I'm "immune" to AIDS as I don't cheat on my wife. The only way I can maybe get AIDS is through a blood transfusion. |
