I do not think or even wish for the US to have a hard time but this current financial crisis that some greedy immigrant American-Jews have created, will most definitely have a negative effect on Israel.
Thousands of Americans are without jobs right now and if the situation worsens I would expect some extreme actions that could lead to some unwanted racial feedback and this time it will not be the Afro-Americans, since these people had absolutely nothing to do with the Stock Market looting.
On the other hand the Russians with some careful and swift moves will most definitely help the Arabs to establish full control of the Middle East.
If Israel wants to survive I am afraid it will have to shrink in size so the Jews will be in tighter groups to defend themselves.
But yes I believe some large scale changes will happen in Israel and this is a God's gift.
Not to the Jews of course but to the Palestinians.

It makes me really sad when people put US and israel in the same league. They are an independent country.
US is not falling, the ones who were trying very hard to take it down are themselves falling from their offices and will be history in a few weeks. After Obama becomes president we will be on the right path. |

One might be tempted to think that. However, Israel is not a dependent satellite state of the US, despite the help it receives. One shouldn't imagine that Israeli strategists do not plan out future scenarios which do not include US support. And that being said, they must make sure that they wouldn't be under existential threat without the current level of support. Furthermore, the Muslim and Arab nations are aware of Israel's military strengths in non-conventional weapons and probably wouldn't be any likelier to wage an all-out war to destroy Israel in that case, due to the severity of the retaliation against them. |

No, Israel is a stronger country than it has been in the past. It now has a fairly good economy and lots of jobs are open. And Israel has one of the best armies in the world, so Israel probably wouldn't fall if the US did. Israel is fairly self-sufficient right now. |
