No, never, Not if political leaders murder their countrymen for "voting wrong"

http://www.news24.com/News24/Africa/Zimbabwe/0,,2-11-1662_2302696,00.html

A few days ago I commented on this forum how impressed I was with the whole voting process and the future of Zim. I could not have been more naive !

I wonder how deep Mugabe will dig after hitting rock bottom years ago. He is becoming the joke of the planet !

Alf Garnett
South Africa will eventually be run down to the same level as all other African Countries. The only persons who can change that are Africans themselves by voting with their heads and not with their hearts. Too often Despots are elected or re-elected and usually always on the same agenda - the dangers of the White man.
The Land invasions started a long time ago in South Africa -its just that the tactics are slightly different but the outcome is the same. Prior to 1994 South Africa was an exporter of food.Today it is an importer and as with Zimbabwe we all know why.

No, African attitudes do not seem likely to change in the near future so neither will their fortunes.
South Africa is well on track to becoming another corrupt dictatorship and begging bowl state as witnessed by Mbeki's behaviour regarding the Zimbabwean crisis, the election of Zuma and convicted criminals to leadership positions in the ANC, the Eskom disaster, dwindling agricultural output, questions regarding water supply, crumbling infrastructure, endless strikes and violent crime levels equaled only by war torn nations, the list is endless and the decay has definitely accelerated over the last 12 months.

With African leaders glued to power by all means imaginable, you name it, flawed elections, ficticious results, corruption, threats, Demo(n)cracy, force, even, oh yes, Witchcraft ! Oh God, Save Mother Africa !!

Road Runner
Pastor - I think we all hope that it will prosper, but I don't think many of us hold too much hope for it.

I wonder if it is a case of all of us needing to change our mindset - to have more possitive thoughts, Succesfull people all thiught that they could achieve what they were doing, none of them ever doubted it. Perhaps the same can hold true for an entire country or continent.

I think I had better keep the low profile here.

It is not my fault that instead of consecrating my energy to improving Zimbabwe I had to hold those ridiculous elections. It is all Tsvangirai's fault for contesting the election. If he had been more intelligent, we would not have wasted all this time and energy.

But to answer your question. If Mbeki and Zuma have always been very supportive of my rule in Zimbabwe, it is for a very good reason. They are very jealous, and are only waiting for Mandela to die before they begin to improve South Africa still further.

The only way to change hate is by starting with ourselves. Hate Pastor, as you know is a very strong force. It is very easy to start hating when one clearly sees injustice, and this is the trap....we become what we hate because we, in turn start to hate.
I suspect the same might happen in South Africa - even though we are a wonderful nation. The South Africans living abroad, fall into one another’s arms when they bump into each other. And race doesn’t even feature. We are just so grateful to see and speak to someone from home. We feel as one in that moment!

Somebody has it in for me

Forsee
Well, Africa has more nations than any continent in the world so it solely depends on the nation.

I believe that only a few nations in Sub-Saharan Africa will improve or stay decent.

Those are;

1. Botswana
2. Angola

Botswana is defined as the Sub-Saharan Africa's oasis from crime and deep poverty and is experiencing notable economic growth. The only main problem is the HIV epidemic.

Angola is experiencing ASTRONOMICAL growth, and the HDI is literally exploding, now post-war. Right now, most of angola is still poor, but remember they just recovered from a HUGE war. Angola also needs aborder, because the last thing Angola needs is a huge population they can't supporta nd have people just moving there to live in a slum, very simlar to what happened to Cote D'Ivoire/Abidjan.

Wild Cards;

1. Gabon
2. South Africa
3. Equitorial Guinea
4. Rwanda
5. Senegal

Gabon, at the moment has the highest HDI (Human Developement Index) in Black Africa, but this is threatened. Many people from surrounding nations are literally DYEING to get into Gabon and many make it in. But, remember, Gabon is a tiny country and has limited economic resources, and it simply can not support a big population, there is just not enough firiegn investment. If Gabon does not do a better job with their border they will become another Nigeria (described below). Some things that Gabon does have going for it is more offshore oil deposits and new oppurtunities for oil mining.

South Africa, I'm VERY skeptical about, with all the crime and nonsense that is going on here, it will turn away foriegn investments and it will slowly (10-20 years) become another stereotypical poor nation. All I have to say is South Africa better clean up its act and QUICK.

EQ is similar to Gabon.

Rwanda, is the wild card of the wild card. If all the proposals and foriegn incvest ments do go into the nation, Rwanda will defiantely becoem a good mid-income nation, if it doesn't it will pretty much remain the same, and Rwanda isn't the best nation at the moment.

Senegal also has some potential, I'm going to tell you a little story. In the Mid-1980's the nation of Cote D'Ivoire (Ivory coast) was once prospering, something that no one thought an african nation can do. In the capital Abidjan, new highrises were springing up and living conditions were actually tolerable. Most of this was because the nation was thought as "stable", so it attracted many foriegn investment, mostly from France. As time when on and the 90's approached, the nation strated to become corrupt, all the foriegn investment left and as of 2007, 80% of the nation is unemployed. To get back on the relevant side, many foriegn investors are looking for a new place in West Africa to be a "hub". Senegal most likely fots the category. Now, many french business are going to Senegal and some Gabon. Also, the nation of Libya is also using senegal as a financial hub, as a symbol of this, a highrise is proposed in Dakar to show that.

Unlikely;

1. Nigeria
2. Desert Nations of the Sahara (not including Meditarannean bordering ones)

Nigeria has WAY too mcuh people to have high living conditions. A nation with 1/3 the population of the United States with 1/30th the size of the economy can not go far.Sure Nigeria has had a slight decrease in corruption, lately, but its not helping much. [I know this is irrelevant but if you ahve any free time, look up some pictures of Abuja, the capital of Nigeria, they have AMAZING projects going on, Abuja doesn't even look like Africa, respectfully, go to skyscrapercity.com]

The desert nations (Chad, Niger, Mali, and Central African Republic), simply don't have much to offer to the world. They are all landlocked nations with tiny populatiobs located in the darkest corner of the darkest continent. Unless they find a hge amount of oil AND it the money gets into the right hands, not much will change.

Dreams;

1. Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)
2. Zimbabwe

The DRC right now perfectly fits the category of being a "hell hole", unfortunately. But with all the minerals and natural resources the DRC can literally be the next China and have living conditions similar to that of Germany. That if all the moeny goes into the right hands and not some war mongering rebel who will buy AK-47's and mansions and needless stuff that won't help anyone. For this dream to happen it will take a lot of work, and if it does happen this dream will not occur until atleast 40-60 years, unfortunately.

The future of Zimabwe relies SOLELY on the result of the election and I will not talk about it until we recieve the results

T.I
I hope South Africa doesn't get to that point.

Snorkie
No it is very sad, but the answer is no, like Tebidy said Greed has everything to do with it.

Tebidy
No! As long as greed, power, self interest, incompetence, arrogance, perceived ownership and short sightedness is a required character for Africans electing their leaders, then the answer is no the future will worsen not prosper.

Peace
not will all the aggression and hate going on?

Yeah remember African nations have not even been independent for a century yet so its still unstable in many areas what did you think a continent can do after its been drained of its healthy men for 4 century's then controlled and manipulated after its weakened by slave trade by Europeans who mixed up ethnic groups into their made up countries and stole recourses then suddenly leave you think Africa should of instantly jump back on its feet from that who do you people think you are Gods Gifts have you ever ran a country yourself let alone know how a countinent works??? You lot live in a country already laid out for you by the hard working African slaves and your lazy evil greedy forefathers who exploited Africa.

Today the reasons for poverty in Africa are:
Un fair Trade-
African exports are priced by the western world the consumers. (Since when do you walk in a shop and say how much you are going to buy something). This is only possible because these African nations are dependant no buisnesses are intrested in investing their so they are left to export goods to the western world at their price.
Western world middle men gain 1/3 of the total price of the exports more than the African exporters.

Debt-
When Europeans cutt and ran from Africa left the brutal to tkae over take big loans from the world bank in order to protect the leadership from other ethnic groups in the same country as them due to European colonization. These big loans had to be payed back causing debt which in economic ways means the currency falls. Once a currency is very low buisness intrest in those countries also becomes low. Once buisness intrest come low do the countries become dependant allowing the un fair trade to occur. Either that or their debts will almost eliminate their currencys and 100% unemployment.

Media-
All the media in the western world you get about Africa is negative (violence sevire poverty alot of disease) this is also to put of anyone to even venture to Africa let alone invest, do buisness there. This isolates Africa buisness wise and again leaves them no choice but to obide to the only buyers (western worlds) rules= Un fair trade.

World Bank-
This controlled by the western world mainly USA they a printing paper which they call money which is worth something because they are keeping Africa poor. Africas reasources alongside Asias are the money the western world is holding through confusing ways unseen to the normal person is Africa still being exploited.
All aid which goes to Africa goes through the world bank first take out a large percentage and give the rest to those curropt African governments.

The western world seem to be as if they are helping Africa but they can only be rich if Africa isnt.
They need to make sure African leaders are corrupt so they can pay them off while they robb their countries by paying their economy's pennys for their exports. If there is chaos can the media carry on portraying Africa in those ways and also as long as there is corruption can the western world keep exploiting.

Africa will prosper once it establishes trade with the new up and coming super powers of Asia who do not need to exploit as they have populations who manufacture export and produce real Money and its happening as we speak while USA economy is starting to slide.

I strongly think so. The prosperity is starting already. The next generation of leaders will be way different from the jackasses we've been getting so far because the African people are begining to realise they can DEMAND for a better governmet or get them out by voting. You will not find this on the mainstream news channels because its not in their interest to show us in a good light. You must believe that change is coming, sooner than you think!
