Do you think that it is ok to have pet rabbits in your apartment?

I want to have a pet rabbit but a "certain someone" wouldn't let me do that.

"Certain someone" says:
1- They're gonna smell bad.
2- They're gonna make the place dirty.
3- There's a new baby coming soon and we can use it as a pet.

My reasons:
They are white and fluffy.

its ok .. but not for your case ... if there is a baby coming so you really need your place clean as much as you can ...

babies's immunity is very week at the begining o there lifes ... on the other hand ... animals and pets can have a disease witch you can not notice .... i guess it wouldnt be safe for now ... you may ask the doctor also ...

You definitely can (Apologies to "certain someone").
As a child, we used to keep a rabbit at home as a pet.
My father was visiting some people on a farm, and they gave him a rabbit as a gift.
He brought it home, and instead of making a delicious molokhia bel araneb dish, my brother and I kept it as a pet in the house. It is treated exactly like any other pet. It comes to recognize that it is allowed only in certain places, and that it isn't allowed to eat except from a particular place.
Rabbits are really very intelligent. She would recognize that my father is coming home a few minutes before he opens the door and she would run to the fridge and stand by its door because she knew that the first thing my father did was to give her carrots. She stayed with us for quite a while, but then we had to give it away to some of our friends who had a fenced garden to allow her some freedom. She then disappeared for a while and returned with a family.

3- Congratulations for the new baby that is coming soon.
yetraba fi 3ezakum.
1-yes, someone is right .
they will make the place smell bad .
2- yes, they are going to make the place dirty .
ok , amrak lilah , give up the idea of having a pet rabbit .
wait for the baby , and keep the place neat and tidy , with a good smell.

Well I dunno, I think a pet rabbit is like a pet cat.

However, you cannot use your baby as a pet because it is a human, lol.

sure why not. If ur counting on the new baby that u can use it as a pet, don't count on that. I have always wanted to keep a monkey as a pet at home, now I have a 1 yr old wild monkey running around in my home all day(aka my baby boy). oh, how I wish it was a pet rabbit instead of a monkey, would've made a lot of things much easier :))

Pharmacist
i think that "certain someone " has a good point of view , lol..

just listen to her , and u can raise them anywhere outside the house..

btw , CONGRATSSSSSSSSSS buddy , i'm very happy for u..

love & peace from islam..

hahaha @ G I had to scroll back up and read point 3 again before i got that haha. NICE ;o)

You cna have a rabbit as a pet, me and my husband were having this conversation today he was teasing and saying he is gonna get some chickens and put them on the roof and then he said he was gonna get rabbits too for molekaya and rabbit. I said we cant coz rabbits are way too cute and I would fall in love with them lol.

In the UK loads of people have rabbits as pets, although most do have gardens!!

My friend bough hers into work one day and it Crapped everywhere which was nasty, it didnt smell but it was everywhere. So i think 'a certain someone' would kick ur butt!!! So its probbaly safer for u to not have one as a pet. If you can wait til ur baby is like 2 u can keep telling them how cute a baby rabbit would be and then she can work on a certain someone and wear them down until they give in ;)

Congrats on the new baby xoxox

Hey, Ismailly, I did not see you for a looooong time...

We used to have a white and fluffy rabbit in our condo, it's true they smell, just like any animals but as long as you maintain their cage it's tolerable. Their droppings is what you need to watch out for and how they nibble on things. They need exercise too, just like us, so you have to get them out of their cage regularly but keep an eye on them, our rabbit died long time ago and believe me, I still discover wires that it chewed on when we still have it.

None of you guys have asthma or allergy, sa7? Aside from feeding it and cleaning it's cage, you also have to groom it, meaning, you have to comb it's fur regularly or they might choke on it because rabbits like to clean themselves by licking it's body. I can go on and on, but it all goes down to one thing...it takes time, patience and lots of love to take care of a pet, if you're up to it, having a rabbit is very rewarding, especially when you cuddle it and you get to feel it's soft, fluffly hair against your skin.

Awww, now I miss our rabbit :(

What ever you wrote about rabbits is 100% right , but you have forgotten that they are also dirty like ****, and you are expecting a Baby, isn´t that enough work for your Mrs. to take care off. Or we men have no thoughts and respect to our women. As far as the other Part is refusing then be a democratic person and accept her opinion, Marriage Life is understanding between 2 people with different views, so try to understand you partner point of view MAN.

Na Na Na.
I love rabbits but I prefer dogs, you should put them in a kartoona since they pee alot and get them some blankets to sleep on.

Rodiii..
i guess you should give the rabbit to the "certain someone" and she will make you a delicious molokya dish with it...

then you wont think about any fluffy white thing!!

hehehehe!!!

(if u need it that bad, make a home for it in the balcony)
and congratulations for the coming baby :)

I had a rabbit and I got rid of it b/c it smelled very bad, and it kept on making a mess. I had to clean up after it too many times, so I gave it away. Unless you don't mind working hard for the rabbit, I wouldn't recommend it.

They are really cute, but require high maintenance.

Nemo
No, it's not okay to have rabbits in your apartment because it will really become smelly and dirty as you were told. Other pets cause the house to be nasty as well, but I think that rabbits are worse than other pets in this concern. If you want a clean pet, get some fish. They are the cleanest ever and they even recognize the one who feeds them by time.
