it does depend on your age, if this is your first taste of independence it sure does.
You have to do a lot of growing up fast and learn to look after yourself and take responsibilities.
Going away also expands your horizon which gives you a better perspective to look at things and people "back home" with a new eye.
As for the way you feel about your family, one hopes that the bond is strong enough not to let distance interfere with it. |

Of course it affects your life......and in many ways.
You go from being dependant (from family, friends, life style) to have to make ur own decisions, without anyone to help you.
Your loved ones are far away..your friends also..and you'll come back to an empty home everydays.
But that is what makes us what we are. Life is a process and keeps going on.
If you have a good relationship with ur family, to be separate from them, will make you to value the life you have had when living with them. Homesick is a hard thing, but almost everyone feels it in some way or another.
Anyways.........that is a way to grow up too. |

I did it while I studied abroad. I learned a lot about myself, not because I was far from my family but because I was in a very violent part of the world. It can certainly make you question how you live. |

while you are missing your family and friends greatly and reminiscing on your hometown like it's the best place on Earth, you are also growing up on your own .. learning and experiencing a lot .. and this actually detaches you from your own environment so when you come back home .. you're a totally different person .. not the one your parents knew and raised .. you're opinionated and have your own ideas, beliefs, rituals and routine ... this will interfere greatly with your domestic life ... take me for example ... I've been home for a year now and my parents still didn't get used to me ... they still treat me like they did 9 years ago when I first left ... they have to attempt to know this new person ... they still didn't ... |

Dear, It depends whether u are going from Developed country to developing country or like as usual Developing country to Developed country. In the Family as far as ma-pa is concern their love for u will never decrease, even if they are angree, however u need to be strong enough to keep you love alive for them forever, coz abroad alone is not so easy and not tough also....u must know what u are and what u r doing.... considering good and bad, cos there will not be nobody to control u. you r the one u need to decide what is right and what is wrong.... :) |

It changes everything! Your appreciation of your family, your world view, your whole perspective on life in general.
At first you may be homesick but if you approach it with a sense of adventure and are willing to accept the culture you are going into, you will have a ball!!! |
