Do you trust your first instinct when you meet someone for the first time...?

To be honest I don't know. Sometimes my instinct fails me and other times it doesn't. So I sit on the fence till I know the person better. My oupa always used to say,

"Never judge a man until you have walked a mile in his moccasins!"

Most of the time my first instincts regarding people are fairly accurate, especially with men, I do sometimes misread women though.
That doesn't however apply to the Internet, most of the contributors I get along well with on Y/A's now for example, I despised in their first few weeks posting on this forum and they despised me, I had altercations with many of them, I think HeavyD, Styvies, Ferrariman and LiseK were especially disliked by myself and I had a war of words with all of them, they are now of my favourite contributors.

if something unnerves me about someone, most of the time I'm right. but i honestly try giving them a chance to prove me wrong.

When it comes to friends and social circles, I sometimes have trouble trusting my instincts, but when it comes to business I can immediately tell if I can trust this person or not. And I've been correct at least 95% of the time, so I always trust my instinct in that area.

I dont because i am a terrible judge of character, so i like to get to know someone better first.

I never trust my first instinct when I meet someone,what if that person just happened to have a bad day,then you have the wrong impression of them

Yes in a scary way actually, my family started asking me certain people they want to know about. and i am always right about my instinct.

Yes and I am usually right, but I must admit, one of my best friends, we have been friends for years and years, when i met her for the first time, I could not stand her!! Only later I came to know the real her, so after that I am very carefull not to make too quick a judgement.

I don't judge people till i know them, but if my instinct is telling me to tread carefully i do.

As far as if a person is trouble or not - YES trust your instinct.

But as far as if a person is "cool" or your type, etc. - NO don't trust your instinct because they might surprise you they might just be nervous on the first date.

IÂ´m usually right, so my instinct is my guide. I sometimes err with cyber friends, though. There was one user who was sweet as heck, and we all fell for her, and it turned out she was not what we imagined!! A very big mistake, but that taught me to be wary about avatars, and to take them as they come, and ignore them when I feel like it.

Very rarely do my first instincts let me down and I know pretty well where I am with people. Reading peoples answers and building up a picture of them is a habit I have picked on this forum, every answer tells you a little more about the answerer the only problem is how to find out if you are right.
