My advice:

1. Watch: watch others (mom, sister, friend, etc.) while they cook or prepare things. It helps. Try to ask questions about things you don't understand fully.

2. Try: try doing some simple things (boiling an egg, preparing a cup of tea, etc.) but with some amount of sense. It doesn't make sense, for example, to boil an egg until the whole water dries out. It would not be "boiling" this way.

3. Seek advice: instead of your mom breaking your hopes, try to convince your mom to give you some advice into improving your cooking.

4. Share the experience: try to find a good meal from some magazine. A simple, easy to do one. Try to cook it with the help of an experienced person while following the instructions. This helps in knowing the tools, amounts, techniques and other important stuff about the kitchen and cooking.

5. TV: watch many cooking programs. Fatafeet is a nice channel for that. By time, you will learn nice tricks.

Cooking an egg, I actually never tried that.

But I before cooked pizza, hamburger, etc... all by putting it in the microwave.

Also, I cooked Instant Noodles before, and I can cook/make tea and Nescafe.

Also I can make tuna or any cold sandwiches with salad, olives and mayonaise.

Hey Hey Hey People...

We are in the 21st. century... Who said that women have to stand in the kitchen make the food and serve it to the man?

Well That was in the old days, when my mom Alaah Yarhamaha was not that educated and had to stay home and make the food for my Dad while he was out working to feed us with his income.

To days woman is a hard working woman, so if she can not make the food, the good husband will be there to share the kitchen with her, I use to do that with my Mrs. what happened to me? Nothing and I mean nothing.

My wife did not knew how to make food at all, but with books and a little bit of will she learned it, well we both learned how to cook. That was a great experience for us both. Now that I am alone , I do all my things on my own.
So dear do not worry, If you are lucky you will get a husband who understand women of today, and one more thing it is good for men to learn how to **** before getting married, I bet all young men of today understand life much better then the old people in the old days, plus time has changed. Men and women today are equals. I hope that my Egyptians friend are also aware of time .

learning. Don't worry you can learn later. My mum learned after getting married. Get cook books or you can go online or go on youtube.

Don't worry and tell your mum not to worry.
Most brides can't really cook before they are engaged. I personally didn't know how to make anything. But when I got engaged I used to try helping out my Mum in th ekitchen each time my fiance would visit us. Step by step I started cooking my own recipes that I would get from books, and magazines. I got encouraged when he liked my cooking. And so I got more interested and got more recipes to try. When I got married, the first thing that was packed was my copybook of recipes and now besara7a people wait for my invitations and dishparties where I cook and bake wonders!

For example: Rice paste, they call it "roz mahrouk!"
Seared beef with raw eggs, they call it "boftake bayez!"

relax, you just need a bit of practice. The more you practice, the more you learn - and the more you learn the more you know how to do. And if that doesn't work, my aunt can't cook a lick. She orders everything out from warsaw.

Maybe you just dont like to cook I am 14-gonna be 15 in 8 days- and I can cook some things like chicken,rice and-my own favourite-Lobia :P but I cant do anything else.
