Assuming you are going to one of the main tourist areas you will get Lipton's tea and nescafe where ever you go. though decaf is not always so available. unfortunately the most common drinks are the ones you mention above, but you could also order shai local mint tea served black in a glass and i love it. turkish coffe very strong, Also there are often fruit juices available and kirkadai, an infusion of hibiscus flowers looks like ribena. Fresh lemon is absolutely lovely though quite sweet. Egyptians tend to add sugar to everything automatically, so say if you dont want sugar. In the main tourist areas you will always find many English speakers. While the native language is Arabic, most speak English as a second language and often a third and fourth. have fun anf e mail if you want more info.

I like Fayrus, pineapple. Fayrus is a barley drink that comes in different tastes. It has pears, apple, pineapple and peaches. If you like nonalcoholic beer go for Birell. there is also Sprite, Seven Up, shwepps etc.
Here are some words that can help you:
shukran = thank you.

aywa = yes.

la'a = no.

taxi = taxi.

mayya = water.

sha'y = tea.

ahwa = coffee.

Most people you will meet speak English, do not worry, you will like it, have a nice trip.

I'm Blind not Deaf
Believe me the best soft drink is schweppes, ask for it specially the Tangerine taste
Good luck,enjoy your juicy holiday!

You dont have to pack up much by getting tea or nescafe, everything is present here in markets like carrefour or metro

I advice you to try Fairouz, a non-alcoholic flavoured malt drink. It looks like that. It tastes great, even for alcohol drinkers.
Another thing is freshly squeezed fruits, and you will find a lot of shops called (mahal Aseer - generally means juice shops).
They squeeze orange, mango, strawberry ... and many other natural fruits. Just ask them about sugar, because by default Egyptians prefer a lot of sugar intake. [not in oranges though].
Fairuz looks like that:

Aside from that, look for the attached source for a printable phrasebook.

? BlueBerry ?
tea, coffee

pink rose
seven up, shwepps, fayruz, birrel, fanta, sprite.

With the heat, I think you'll find a nice cool bottle of water as refreshing as anything. By the way, if your taking a phrase book take a Russian one. I know I'll get thumbs down for this but dont say you weren't warned.

bottle babe
animal blood, they are killed in sight of all in the streets -which run with the stuff. Lap it up, with some Nile water - you'll probably come back alive! barmy things are foriegners, take some pork scratchings as a tken of friendship with the native locos
