the best currency to use in egypt is either the egyptian pound or united states dollar.

Alie
The best currency to use is american dollars - they are accepted everywhere and recognised in every country in the world.

ancient_egyptian
definitely the EGYPTIAN POUND . you can use it any where except paying some few hotels in some cities , the most widely used foreign currencies is US$ and EURO
1.0 US$ = 5.71 EGYPTIAN POUNDS
1.0 euro = 7.42 EGYPTIAN POUNDS

some hotels in some cities accept only EURO but they are very few

US$ has much more stable rates than EURO but the changing in EURO approximately between 7.35 to 7.55

its preferred that you come with your cashes whatever it and change some at any bank out the airport coz it has better rates than in airport even if its a branch of the same bank .

besides US$ & EURO YOU CAN CHANGE :

1.0 GBP = 11.05 EGYPTIAN POUNDS .

100.00 JPY (hundred japaneese yen) = 4.82 EGYPTIAN POUNDS

1.0 CHF (switzerland frank) = 4.62 EGYPTIAN POUNDS

CANADIAN & AUSTRALIAN DOLLARS also changable but i dont know the rates

i wish i could help more

Egyptian pounds, though they take dollars and sterling I don't think you always get the best exchange rates. You can order them from most places without any trouble.

Haggle for what you want anyway to get the best price, that's more important than the currency you're paying in.

Definitely the Egyptian Pound.
Keep it in smaller denomonations because things are cheap in Egypt and you don't want to break big bills.

Also don't let them see a wad of money in your hand or the prices will go up.

angelinyourdreams99_us
thier own currency, although u can use usa dollars but they dont really l;ike it. we went out there last year and all we used was thier money which is really good exchange for our money at the moment.

as in most countries the english pound is readily accepted because of the exchange rates other countries seem to get more for the pound when they exchange it for the currency of there country.

Lorraine A
As everyone else has said, us dollars or the egyptian pound. You can haggle almost anywhere to get prices down but be very careful, if you use egyptian pounds, be sure that they give you the correct change as their "PENCE" notes look almost like the "POUND" notes. When I was there for a holiday this happened to a few people. Also be careful that the locals dont comment on how pretty your eyes are (if youre female) as they will coax you into their shops to buy their cheap perfume that dont smell after a few days. Say in their language "La Shukran" Means "No thank you".

it is officially not allowed to make payments in foreign currencies but people would geneally accept US dollars, British pound and Euros. keep some local changes (egyptian pounds) as well for your little purchase. Bargain hard.
