Don't mistake habbits of bad people to Islam, u have too many christians and jews bad too, it's not about the religion it's about manners and habits. Being modern is not drinking alcohol or doing bad stuff. I'm a muslim girl and being treated like a princess in egypt and all the muslim countries, we dont have discriminition if u noticed or racism like usa or some european countries, we r very social and friendly. I don't know why people always generalize the situation and at the end of their speech they innocently say i don't generalize after they have sent there message to the reader.

so the situation here is we are talking about 19 men who work in tourism, where they are subject daily to a lot of temptation to do wrong things, every body knows how it is in touristic places.

and by the way porn videos is spread in Egypt by infection some people have the hobby of sharing their precious porn videos to their friend.
it's like you are sitting in your office or at school and some innocent guy come and say "hey have you seen this ............

Pornography is not viewed by Egyptian men only!! Itâ€™s viewed by millions of men, women, boys and girls all around the world. And since sex is a daring issue to be discussing in the Egyptian culture (especially in the presence of a person of the opposite sex), and since the Internet offers pornography at a large scale, a lot of Egyptians use it for that purpose. But that has nothing to do with the Egyptians treating women unfairly, because they donâ€™t. Do not generalize (especially when speaking about Egyptians working in tourism).

I'm English & i lived in Luxor for a while. During that time i was surprised to see many men in the hundreds of internet cafe's looking at porn, as i'm also married to an Egyptian, i know that it is not allowed. Judging from the way they act, i know that they are in fear of the women finding out, like they don't know.
I wouldn't say that the porn is a modern thing, but of course it is now readily available because of the internet, so i suppose they are catching up. As for the hotel workers, their influence is from the many westerners that go through the hotel.

i think it is general not just egypt, when i was living in dubai few years ago some of my hubbies friends had porn videos they watched when their wives werent around, a lot of them too "played away" im not sure what the wives would say a lot of them are very naieve and wouldnt necessarily understand from my experience, i know some that had never smelt alcohol so werent aware their husbands had been drinking. its a bit surprising that they were so willing to show it to a stranger, u could after all have been an undercover policeman, in uae im sure they would be in trouble for having such things on their phones, tho im sure they do have it discreetly.

Not all Muslim men are in to porn but some will be. It's a man's culture- women are totlally superfluous and insignificant- so for them- it's of no consequence. Double standards basically. When I see the muslim woman who lives near me in the uk struggling with her heavy shopping bags- walking behind her husband - here in the uk- I squirm. RIGHTS FOR WOMEN- please- this is the 21st century!!!

Brainlady is correct, in Muslim culture it is traditional to treat women like crap.

When they come the the UK, they should at least respect the customs and traditions of this country, instead of trying to force their pernicious views on the indiginous population.

This behaviour in Egypt merely supports this lack of respect toward the fairer sex.
