i think my answer to your last question dear would be applicable here too...
not only in egypt its everywhere... n if one dosent have these power, money n wasta he is humiliated on not having these...
he is remains an ordinary person in the society who will face the hardest of times to get his rights!...
here in Pakistan its very common in a lower n middle class families that the father gets atleast one child to get a government job apart from a regular job.. in any department he can get into... so that in the future he can exercise his power or authority or wasta with the seniors to get his work done with giving bribe...
people now have starting accepting this power money n wasta theory to be very ture in all walks of life ... none of these then only God can help you! |

I think the last one will be sufficient.. if you have good connections (Especially with a bank manager) it can bring the other two |

Im an american that lives in mansoura egypt. but i work in dubai. if i didn't make money from my job in dubai, i would not live comfortably in egypt.
jobs are difficult to find and the pay scale is like everywhere else in the world...related to the exchange rate. and its around 5.68.
my husband is in the army there and he earns 40 U. S. dollars a month. So there's an eye opener of reality for you.
money. cousa (wasta) and hard work all matter.......but the economic situation in egypt is a tough one. |

yes! that`s so true...sadly!
that wasta thing is ruining everything . the authority of money has the first word - ALWAYS - in everything , from the tiniest to the hugest matter .
and yes the hard work alone specially in the public sector doesn`t count , because everyone is equal , the one who works & the one who doesn`t & I think that this happens all over the world to , but not the way it does in Egypt because it`s so obvious.
for examle : we have to pay some people to do what they supposed to be doing in the first place ! & i guess that this happens only in Egypt !
there`s so much to be said here & i hope i made my point clear.
have a nice day

I hate wastas, did you think for a minute what is it leading us to? no self appreciation,or self respect, self confidence, it deprives you from hope...hope that you can do that, you loose your self esteem and you don't know what you are capable of . at the same time it teaches people, to use wasta all the time...
every thing now going with wasta starting from the food we eat...to what ever you name it.
hope one day I wake up and all egyptians live with dameer.

this is found all over the world, esp Arab countries.
still , we are better , bec we practice self criticism.
we discuss our social diseases openly , ie, do not hide our heads in sand like the ostrich.
thanks for reminding us . |

No. Egypt is rather messed up at the moment but hard work can sometimes rarely prevail. |
