Definately true my friend. I am Egyptian too and when I see some of my relatives with their blue or green eyes and see how people react around them as if they r kings and queens I think to myself "what the hell is going on". I personally have brown eyes, and so does my sister (although hers r very light brown) and a lot of people here in Australia complement it.
I think over in Egypt the issues lies with the fact that nearly everyone has brown eyes and black (or very dark hair), and when thye see an egyptian with different characteristics it is something exotic and beautiful. I know many in my Church (Egyptian Copt church) that look like this, and serisouly just because they have green eyes they don't look beautiful.
I still feel the most attractive women are those mediterrenean women with olive skin and dark eyes and hair - it's a fact.

It may be a case of the grass is greener on the other side but this is not the case.

Whilst in Egypt when watching the TV i saw an advert advertising a cream then lightens and brightens the skin so some women see this as more attractive than their natural skin tone.

Here in the UK and other similar countries a lot of girls buy fake tan to produce a nice tan colour. Some even spend hours on sun beds and hours in the sun trying to get the desired colour this is not healthy as can lead to skin cancer.

I my self find Egyptian women and other nationalities with the same colour very very beautiful not just their look but the dignity and pride in them selves beauty is just skin deep Egyptian women are much more than this they have inner beauty as well.

I'm blonde, green eyes and skin that burns red in the sun and i far prefer dark hair and tanned skin. i find my white skin and fair hair insipid. it doesn't matter what you have you always want the opposite. or as we say 'the grass on the other side is always greener. '

hey Somebody thank you for a very interesting piece of information, i knew that DNA testing had shown that there was little difference between Egyptians today and ancient Egyptians, but the stats are fascinating. That kind of thing really turns me on...... god I'm so boring.

I personally don't, I mean a lot of Egyptians might see it as uniqueness because we are mostly brown haired and brown eyed, but thats because melanin is important in hot countries. But I've heard this a lot from Egyptian guys, "there's nothing like Egyptian beauty, or this kind of beauty is certainly Egyptian". So not everyone thinks that way and a lot of Egyptians appreciate their ethnicity. I love being African!! And I love evn more being Egyptian!!

It is a sad reality that our lives and what we see as being "the best" is controlled by the media. Advertising ,music videos ,magazines all contribute to what we think is our personal perception of beauty.
The reality is it has been spoon-fed to us almost subliminally by the media and advertising companies.
Look closely at a music video or a movie and notice how many brand names you see appearing ....It gets to be scary when you think our brains are getting all these quiet little messages of "what we think we want" without us consciously making a decision about it..

Now why would you beautiful people see blonde & blue eyes as ideal ? You have such lovely coloured skin & wonderful brown pools for eyes. My hubby sometimes says "wish my skin was white", i tell him to be proud of his colour, his culture, his history & his country. I never want to hear him say such a thing, or any of you, be proud of who you are.

I totally agree with many of the others on this.. it's a lot of different factors involved and depends on the person..
Part of it is exotic-ness, which of course is relative as well as commercial influences telling us to look a certain way and etc.

as far as the being ashamed.. hmm I don't know how Egyptians feel about that..
But I DO know that many Black Americans in the 1960s and before would try to say they had Native American blood in them.. thereby making them less "black" and therefore more acceptable to the whites at the time...

Egyptian women should not go with the crowd and try and make themselves lighter. Stick with your dark skin, you are beautiful. I don't think i have ever seen an ugly Egyptian girl, they have a quality that is rare. Beautiful eyes, brown skin. I married an Egyptian three weeks ago, and he is light brown. But at the weather gets hotter he gets darker, lol. So he has three shades to his skin. I tell him he is multi coloured, lol. I am hoping to get him across to UK sometime next year and he said that when he gets here he will be very light. But I don't care what colour he is, I love him for his funny personality and for being him.
Egyptians shouldn't conform to media needs. And the TV shows should start using people with darker skins. When i was in Egypt earlier this month, I watch a few old films, and I did notice that they were practically westernised in the skin colour of the actresses, so this is not something new as the films were made in the 80's.

And i don't believe that young people here should be spending time under sun beds trying to get a brown tan, they are putting themselves in danger just to look good on the beach.

Stay Egyptian, that's the best way to be. You are great people with great personalities and very welcoming. That is your greatest asset, not the colour of your skin.

Thats funny...my husband is Egyptian and I was so sure that the first thing he noticed about me was my blonde hair and green eyes! ( He reackons it was my heart!!!)

We were recently in el Maadi where there are lots of Americans and I even caught his brother unashamedly checking out the blonde chick who walked past but none of the gorgeous Epytian girls!

I am funny too I never found blonde guys that appealing as a tall dark handsome one!!

I guess opposite do attract!! I can't wait to see what our babies look like!!

this answer is not easy. If you are happy with something of your region and find it truth full for every race; you are right to be proved of it and wish another race to share and or perhaps to have such great thing. As an example: the culture, the behaviour, The looks of that people, the economy development of that region, education, and political power of that region.The one who mostly like the western appearance surly like to have ethnic changes. Such person has mentally been alianized with her or his culture. He/She is infect captive of his /her personnel desire. The person is perhaps is not fateful or denies not to be.Or has not experienced the western life to come to his/her senses. On the other hand western people also like the eastern looks and appearance. So that I believe we should be better off to look at our steps and think truly. Arabs came in 4,000 soldiers, Amr Ibn Elaas left 500 of them in Egypt and took the rest to conquer Libya and the rest of North Africa. At the time of that invasion Egyptians numbered 7,000,000. Furthermore, the great Egyptian Anthropologist Dr. gamal Hemdan said that the number of Arabs in Egypt since their invasion and till now is between 500,000 and 2,000,000 only out of Egypt's 78,000,000. He said this is the most expected number according to scientific and logical basis. And another anthropologist called Mery said similarly that their number is 500 thousand only.
Also a lot of anthropological studies were conducted and proved that 91% of Egyptians are Eastern Hamitics -(who you could call: ancient egyptians or copts)-. there's a definite inferiority complex going on w/ a lot of the women I've met in egypt. They've dyed their hair blonde and it doesn't even match their skin tone and straighten their hair.

There's also a definite color hierarchy from what I've noticed. My hubbys family seems to think that anything white is superior in terms of beauty even if the person has the most plain appearance. It's disgustingly hypocritical. So if someone is white and wears a hijab his family considers that person as someone great. They haven't even bothered to try to get to know me. I'm the uncovered, dark westerner and whatever other stereotypes that come along w/ that. He isn't into what they like and following that train of though though. They think his preference of slim, black women is strange.

To be honest I dont know but I am very grateful that my fiance an Egyptian man loves that I have pale skin and green eyes. I love his olive skin and dark hair and his happy personality I would not want him any other way. I cant wait to get married!
