These are voilent songs and should not be sung to your worst enemies. I read on news24 this morning that Jacob Zuma is justifying the singing of Awuleth' Umshini Wam by comparing it to the De la Rey song by Bok van Blerk, but I cannot see the resemblence as the first mentioned is voilent and De la Rey based on a historic event!

I think that they are giving the fire oxygen rather than to kill it.
Buy singing those kind of songs they kind of inspire people to kill each other for what happened in the past.
They keep the past alive and they create hate in the hearts of every south african

As a black man, I don't feel anything. But we should respect feelings of others, why didn't Zuma compIain when Mokaba was told to stop singing "kill the boer, kill the farmer"? He is a hypocrit.

Is this really the part of our history we should be remembering? Sure, i can understand the motivations behind them, but is that how we see our country in the here-n-now?
Surely we've moved on from this violence?

These songs need to be put with all the other nasty bits from our history, shoved to the back of the closet and taken out when we wanna see how young & stupid we were...

I think that they are just singing the song, and have no idea what they are actually saying, or even what consequences this sort of tirade can have on others. To me it normally is a good judgement of low intelligence. If these people would read and study a bit more, they would not have to occupy themselves with such destructive trivia.

I find it heart breaking. I feel sad because I understand that a lot of hurt has been done in the past, and it is not easy to move on. But I feel angry, that my family can't live in a safe country, that the hate just goes on and on. Frustrated because it is not in our power to change it quite yet. And it just make me desperate because I realise the time that I can take my beautiful boy and move back to South Africa, to live near my very beloved family - is still far far away.

I get this terrible feeling in my stomach and the very familiar feeling that I hoped never will rise again ! Anger, terrible anger ,and the feeling that I might do something wrong in order for the feeling of sadness to go away ! I remember spit in my face and the smell of human flesh burning ,the helplessness as smoke signals the place of the loss of an young mother , and the echo that I can still hear in my sleep....awuleth' umshini wam ....

If the blacks can sing about it, they shouldn't be offended about white singing Die Stem & De La Rey & songs like that.

If it's good for one ethnic group, it should be accepted for another. Zuma actually stood up for the right of all South Africans who want to sing about their history in South Africa - probably the only good thing he has ever said & done.

I dont care about the songs. I watch them and laugh sometimes. Why should people feel threatened if they did nt do anything wrong? I disagree with those who say its the majority feeling, if the majority didnt want you there you wouldnt be there, why not seeit that way? Ifits your country where you blong who can put you out? in what right common now all you cowards. If you are South AFrican why should you be shaken by songs. Sometimes people who sing it dont even know the meaning, they are not even activists. They were singing umshini wami when Zuma went to court for rape. Do you think really they sang that for whites? I dont think so. for me its jst blaffing. MY OPINIONÂ§
