No special vaccinations needed but all your normal immunisations and boosters should be up to date as recommended for life in Britain ...

especially... diphtheria; tetanus; polio; hepatitis A; typhoid.
sometimes advised... tuberculosis; rabies; hepatitis B.

MALARIA PRECAUTIONS
There is a small risk of serious malaria in El Faiyum area (50 miles south of Cairo on west bank of the Nile) from June till October. This is not a common tourist area.

Whether or not you get all your immunisations up to date before you go, do get travel insurance. Do a web search; for a fortnight's cover you will find quotes from around £25. Make sure you're covered for any sports you may do (scuba, windsurfing etc)...

You will need a visa if you're a British citizen. No probs though, you can buy it when you enter Egypt.
Have fun.

You don't need any injection, they are not necessary at all.

It isn't a must but they do advise you to have hepatitis and typhoid which is a combined injection it will cover you for a year and then if you have a booster in the same year it will cover you for 20 years. I must stress it isn't a must but it is advised.

I have just come back & I didnt have any injections.

It is a wonderful country with lovely people.

You will enjoy it.

Have a great time

nadonora
as everyone else said, you don't need any special injections before you go to egypt.
but be warned that in the time being alot of cases of both chicken pox & measels are reported.

Call the Egyptian consulate nearest you here is a link to all of them:

http://www.egy2000.com/missionsl.htm

ask the people at the consulate also ask if you need a visa

My parents just got back from Egypt.....they booked the holiday way in advance and they never mentioned that they had to get injections..... =/ They did a cruise on the Nile, I reckon if injections were necessary they would have known due to waterborne diseases....... Try checking the NHS website maybe!

Have a good trip!

bruce m
should defiantly be up to date with tetanus if nothing else

winnie
you dont need any injections to travel to egypt but you need to read some more about this country, you seem to know nothing.

Balsam
No need for any injections.

I didnt have any when I went. If you're sticking to touristy areas and not going out into the countryside and roughing it you should be ok. Dont forget the sun lotion and bug spray tho!

you are ok no need for any but its advisable to get your hepititus, and make sure your titinus is up to date ie the last 10 years.you should be covered for them even in your own country. not just abroad.
