what do u wanna know?i'm iranian .treatening women in iran differs a little from western women .and thats because we are muslim.and some of the girls have some restrictions.but we live on. and those restrictions are needed for our women (if they want to have a great living) because our women are 'nt usa women's and our country isnt usa.if u want to come too iran u can find
every thing .drugs or alchol drinks. (thats what most tourists want)& also great places for visiting.we ARE an acient civilization.me ,myself i love tourists and we all respect them.see ing all countries with all sorts of culture is interesting (ive seen 18 countries) and i love to go on a trip in my own country .but i havent had time.good luck with ur trip ;)

I've traveled to both Kuwait and Jordan, and I'm a young, Western woman. I strongly recommend going to Jordan, if you have the opportunity. It is a fantastic and versatile country--Petra is one of the most beautiful places I have been to in my entire life! Kuwait is smaller and has fewer points of interest. A lot of people assume that "all Middle Eastern women are oppressed," and that is simply not the case. Just because a woman wears the hijab or an abaya, it does not mean it was forced upon her. In fact, many women choose to obey these practices because they are tenets of their faith. In Saudi Arabia, women have fewer rights than in some of the more developed, less Islamist countries in the Middle East. Iraqi women are some of the most well-educated women in the region because the former government was mostly secular. So, the bottom line is that it varies from country to country and culture to culture.

I went on a business trip to Dubai, U.A.E. It was actually a lovely trip. Another woman traveled with me. We were treated respectfully and decently. I remember one morning going up to the breakfast room for a cup of coffee and the waiter ran over to see what I needed. At first, I thought he didn't want me there. But that wasn't it, he was just trying to be helpful. I remember that we were in the car with the Director of Sales and we asked him about women. At one point we went to one of their facilities. They told us they had a woman out of 400 some odd employees. When she happened to walk by they stopped the car to point her out to us. It seemed that women as business professionals aren't as common as more westernized countries. Some people were obviously surprised to see us alone and on business. But everyone was quite warm and friendly. It does help that we had a wonderful escort to take us on most of the outings.

my cousin went to jordan and a few others. he's very outspoken too. we were suprised he came back from that alone (not even considering the war and other mentality over there). he was fine.

I haven't, but my boyfriend has. He's from Lebanon and he's shown me pictures. It is absolutely beautiful. He said there's a great night life and good restaraunts and beautiful beaches. As for the women, they treat them with more respect than they do here. (Well, some of the population is muslim and some is Christian, you decide what is respectful). I would love to go someday!

I have been to Iran. Great place for ruins and ancient art. If you want a place closest to western places try Island Kish of Iran. Very tropical and they have an awesome hotel that is the replica of Persepolis.

my Friend did before all the conflict over there and him and his wife had to respect the culture so they wouldn't start any animosity

I used to live in Muscat, Oman... and absolutely loved it!

The country is beautiful and the people are so friendly.

If they wish, women are free to do anything the men do... not like Saudi Arabia where women aren't allowed to drive and have to cover themselves up when they go out etc.

Women aren't treated any differently.

However, the same cannot be said for other middle eastern countries of course.

How about Israel? I was there for a few years.

Women were treated with slightly less respect than here, especially young women.

Dubai would be great since all nationalities are here. I'm an Asian working in Dubai for 2yrs. People here have an utmost respect to women, it's in their culture. For example, in the bus, ladies would have the seat at front and would be preferred to have the seat rather than gents, regardless of your nationality. There are a lot of tourist spots, nice hotels, great business opportunities, and a lot more.

I vacationed in, and now live in Tunisia. The women are treated the same as American women (I'm American, I should know). Tunisia is one of the most Eurpoeanized of the Middle Eastern countries, and all of it's laws and recent culture comes from the French, who ruled from 1880 until 1956.

Read about my life on my blog, or look at my photos in my photo albums.

Sure, but it cost me an arm and a leg.

Brillant!
I loved the atmosphere. It was so lively at night and so much to see during the day.
I have been to Israel/Palestine, Jordan and Egypt.
The people were cool. Everyone was so friendly.
Everybody should go at least once in their life to see some amazing relics and historical sites.
I can't wait to go back one day!

I would love to go there. I wish I could visit Egypt, Israel and Dubai. There is too much turmoil there to visit peacefully.

I have visited Jordan and Israel. Both are beautiful countries. As a woman, I did not face any particular issues (other than having to dress more modestly at religious sites). I felt safe and welcomed at every place we visited and did not ever feel uncomfortable.

In spite of what many may think, Israel is safe to visit. It is worth the time and money to go there and visit the many historical and religious sites.

Jordan also has many interesting places to visit, especially Petra.

Don't hesitate to visit either country - you will have a fabulous time and will be treated with respect.
