well...i have seen many examples of internet couples....even there's some here in yahoo answers......but i think they are exceptions,it won't suit anybody...
i don't think i can go through this as i don't get distant relationships.....

sorry to tell you that she won't agree at all, without mentioning the reasons............. i think she'll answer your question soon.....but at least i'm sure of what i'm saying for i'm a close friend to her.

but to answer your question in general............then yessss, i think sometimes it can be successful, but still i'm not generalizing.

yes i know a couple that met first online, they are married now and have 2 gorgeous girls.

But take care its not always like this, how do u know that the other person is not cheating on u and giving u the wrong information n feelings?

Hi I have been married almost 2 yrs I met my husband online... One of my friends has been married now 8 yrs with 2 kids she met her husband online. I believe online relationships usually do not work.. If you meet someone online and they live near you so you can actually see them in person then sure it can work thats what happened in my case and my friend i mentioned. :)

Yes and yes and yes to all of your questions. Two months ago a relative of mine got married to a man she knew by the Internet and he came here( he was in another country) they knew each other more and got married. And yes for my there are successful relationships most are friendships. Thanks and good luck for you, take your own decision when you feel it's right, people always have different opinions. yes, yes! i am in one right now to my lovely fiance in Cairo. these relations are hard. trust and patience are the biggest factors here. hold off on the "i love You"s until you meet in person. take it slow just like any relationship. use your head.

I am married to the man that I met orginally online, turns out that we ended up having a mutal friend though, we got married a little over two years ago and it was been great. I do advise that you use common sense though just like with dating anyone.

A family friend met someone online and she moved her whole life to be with him she moved to the other end of the country and left her family and friends to be with him and they are very happy together and she has been with him for a long time so yes they can work.

I think online relationships can work it all depends on the amount of effort you put into the relationship. Firstly you both need to know where you stand so i would tell her how you feel otherwise time will stand still you will love her and you won't know her feelings to develop things she needs to know.

You shouldn't need to know this in order to make a decision for YOUR life, nor to "make sure of what YOU are feeling"...... the fact that it worked for someone else is no guarantee that it'll work for you.... and viceversa. I've had 2-3 relationships that started over the internet, one of them was long (5 yrs) and I was even engaged to the guy. In the end we didn't marry but 7-8 yrs later we're still friends. He lives in another country, and as much as I'd have liked to live where he lives, I don't regret my decision.

Internet relationships are like any other relationship, provided that they don't stay virtual forever but they actually become physical, both parties spend time together, etc. It might work, it might not, who knows????? I do know a bunch of people who married peeps they met over the net, some have worked beautifully and some have failed terribly..... what does that tell you?? How do you know YOURS is going to work only because others did?? How do you know YOURS will fail only because others did??? No way to know. You can't base a decision for YOUR life on vicarious experiences.

I am from America

I have had a friendship with an Algerian. I have learned so much about Algeria. I have learned that there are people who just want to live a good life and be peaceable. I have learned that many Algerians have a wide variety of music.

I have seen pictures of the city of belchar in Algeria.
I have been learning French from my Algerian Friend.

I also have had acquantinceships (freindship with people in Abu Dabi Nepal Thailand New Zealand and Australia.

I have even come into contact with people from Iran.

I feel that my life has been made much fuller by being able to meet these people online on the internet and learn so much about each person and the country that they live in.

This has helped make me a much better person as I feel that I have been priveliged to know more about the various places that are in this world that we all live on.

I also have met a Nigerian living in Beijing who has taught me much about Nigeria and West African customs and also about how it is to be able to live and work in China.

So even though it has not been a "Relationship" which would turn into marriage. I feel richly blessed from God that I could meet several people in many parts of the world and get to know these people so as to be able to consider them a good aacquaintance and friend and to learn about their homeland

I think that is what needs to happen more often in life.

I hope I have been able to offer you another way of looking at your question.

I think it depends on your age and the willingness to commit to someone. I have seen it go either way. Just be careful and use common sense and you will be fine. Remember if its meant to be, it will be. If not, well then maybe you at least found a great friend. good luck!!

Yes it can work, Im married to a sister I met thru a website for marriage.....but thats different than just chatting to girls and having an innappropriate relationship....soooo, i guess what im saying is if youre doing it with the sincere intention to marry, thats one thing...if youre looking for "chat" or whatever I wouldnt advise it......U say u dont want to lose her friendship? Why are u friends with a girl? It always ends up that one of them will want more....soo, u can respect girls, answers a question, or what have you...but u dont need them as friends and they certainly dont need you. each imagines the other person , his looks, his character, his nature, etc . but seeing him is what really counts .
