I love grilled calamari as well as a nice roast chicken with roast potatoes.

But nothing beats a good braai. We had one on Saturday for the Sprinbok game and it was great - boerewors and steaks that can't be matched anywhere else in the world! Pity about the rugby result though :-(

Fo dessert, malva pudding is great as well as milk tart. I also really like the chocolate mousse cake that you get from Woolworths. It's like a taste of heaven in you mouth. Mmmmm

Oh, also some good biltong to snack on!

O I loooooooove to eat. I LOVE chicken, (any form of it), braai vleis, don't forget about Snoek, mmmmmm, biltong, fudge, yogurt ice cream, yogurt, mangoes, litchis, chocolates, peanut brittle, Greek salad, coleslaw, chicken wraps (especially Nando's wraps), McDonald's Quarter pounder deluxe, Simba Salt and Vinegar Chips, but most of all, I LOOOOOOOOOOOVE MY MOM'S FOOD!!!!!! Now that's a lady that can cook I tell you!

I am proud South African..so my meat comes first. I prepare for my Braai's 48 hours in advance so that my meat can spent enough time in the marinate (you can make your own with olive oil, Mrs Balls Chutney, Robertson's spices, vinegar ..and some sugar if you like things sweet or you can just buy one from Woolworths), you can even add more flavour to your Braai by using chakalaka Wors instead of normal wors.

One thing I missed whenever I would be away from home was our french polonies, russians (type of sausage) and viennas..they have such a South African taste that nothing seems to match their standards.

One other African delicacy is cow stomach with intestines and cow heels, don't judge prematurely, if cooked by the right person, these food are just amazing. Tell me if you wanna join forces to open a S.African restaurant overseas :D

Biltong, biltong, and some more biltong, and droewors, and all the other things everybody else has across the world, as we have such a mixed cultural background, you can get USA junk food to Indian curries, to Chinese, to bla bla bla , the list is endless

Stefy
Boerewors, KFC, Mac Donalds No 2,Panarottis and Debernees. Very unhealthy but real nice.

Since I was born & breed in Namibia I have to admit that I do enjoy my meat, so I will have to go with braai vleis & biltong. I also enjoy sea food.

Hmm, well at the top of my list is definitely without a doubt biltong!! I love my biltong. Another food which isn't actually South African but I love it anyway is sushi. Of course I am a big meat eater too and I love mielie pap!!! What else....nothing else that's really specifically South African...

I'd say the favorites (in no particular order) include:

1. biltong (aka beef jerky). they have this in a number of flavors
2. indian food. there are indian take-aways all over the place
3. fast foods (McDonalds and KFC included). they have a number of fast food chains. they'll be giving Americans a run for the money on the obesity issue real soon, no doubt. although, i must admit, they don't use as much sugar in their bakery goods. i'm hoping to kill off my sweet tooth while i'm here
4. mealie meal--Black South Africans love it. i think Coloureds eat it too; I'm not so sure about the Indians and Whites. Anyway, it's like some sort of pounded maize (corn). It reminds me of grits when it's done.
5. Braai'd meat (aka Barbequed meat)

Smiley
Seafood (prawns) and braaivleis!

I'll be home in January and can't wait to get my hands on some homemade chicken pie, "gunsteling" (malva) pudding and leg of lamb.

I always loved "fish and chips" for lunch, but any real salami sandwich will do. Friday is "boerewors-aand" in my book. My mom makes great "bobotie", so I'm looking forward to that as well.

And my favorite thing..."braai"!

As a South African living in Korea, I had to get used to eating something different. These days I eat a lot of tofu. But my favorite Korean dish is Samgyeopsal. Check out this link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Korean_food
