In the meantime, as fighting intensified on the northern outskirts of Gaza City, a top Hamas leader broke cover to warn Israel that the Islamists would kill Jewish children anywhere in the world in revenge for their own young who have died.

The cynical Hamas Muslim terrorists fire their rockets and mortars from UN schools at troops stationed nearby. The soldiers responded by firing mortars back, and they scored a direct hit on a rocket launching team just outside the schoolyard.

The dead included members of the Hamas rocket cell, including senior operatives Imad Abu Askhar and Hassan Abu Askhar.

The Associated Press reported that booby-trapped bombs in the school had triggered secondary explosions that killed additional Palestinians there.

The Hamas regards it as a propaganda victory if Gazans get killed. For them it's a win-win situation: they win if Israelis get killed, and they win if Arabs get killed.

Assuming you are talking about Israel. Conventional warfare is probably out. None the the nation states in the region will want to go to war with Israel. They know they have no reason, they have been beaten before and now most are allied, to some degree, with the US as opposed to the old Cold War situation. Terrorism can't win anything in this situation, the acts aren't devastating and the Israelis have been dealing with it for decades. They need to to basically give up terror and go to the negotiating table, they need to sell themselves to the West as upstanding world citizens, so pressure can be put on Israel on their behalf.

They aren't through with the old methods yet. The Gaza situation is not resolved. The Syrians and Lebanon are waiting for the right excuse to attack.
The West Bank is full of Hamas supporters and should not be forgotten. Jordon is turning away from Israel as well as Turkey.
It doesn't take much for the Egyptians to change sides.
War has been in the air for decades and it isn't going anywhere until the final battle.
