Ismaily Rules
If I truely understand what you imply . I would say you mean "How do I fight?'.
I know you are Muslim , and I know you know there are other ways to "fight" if you can't actually go there .
I would talk a lot about these other ways , but it would seem misplaced . You know you can use your words, your faith , your mind and your heart to serve the bigger cause.
It's up for you to choose your battle , your field and your enemy .
Just follow the words of your OWN mind.

Do you have a death wish? Why would u want to go there?

Molly, do your parents and the rest of the world a favor and DONT GO. It is a very dangerous country that is run by terrorists. It isn't safe for a girl to visit.

shooda487
if you really desperatly want to go, i guess to help the people... join the UN aid group or somthing, red cross, somthing like that. they will train you and fly you over there in no time. these groups always welcome volunteers.

I have to question your reasons for going to Lebanon now. I've traveled a lot and because I'm so into ancient history and was drawn by Lebanon's Phoenician heritage, I took my first trip to Lebanon years ago. It was amazing. In fact, the best time of my life. The people were very friendly and very social. If you're a foreigner, they want to know all about you. They don't care if you're American or from Zimbabwe, they want you to tell them what it is like there and teach them how to say certain things. I made some great friends there and visited a few more times until about 4 years ago when my work just got to be too much and I had to remain closer to New York.

The nightlife in Beirut was amazing. Of course you sort of have to stick to the Christian sectors for that. But the clubs on Monot Street in Ashrafieh are world class, even more exciting than the ones that I went to in Mykonos, Barcelona, London, etc. There's a bar I went to in Monot called Pacifico... best Mojitos in the world! Even Puerto Rico (and several islands I went to in the Carribean) and Miami were a huge disappointment after that one.

Most people in Lebanon even speak English, so that was a big plus. Believe it or not, even when I went out with other Americans that I met up with there and we somehow got lost and ended up in areas that we thought would be very troublesome (hezbollah part of Beirut), the people were friendly and courteous and went out of their way to help us. They didn't react to the fact that we were American, it only made them try to speak English. They didn't care that we weren't Muslim either. I'm not saying on any level that I support Hezbollah, I have seen the struggle the Lebanese had to put up with in regards to their arms and wished then that they would be disarmed, but when I drove through their area, people could see that we were American and they just waved and said hello in English and asked if we were lost. It was a little bit of a shock but also a relief.

Nonetheless, as much as I grew to love Lebanon and had been planning on visiting the friends I had made there this summer, I would not want to go now or even when this whole crisis is over. It's heart breaking enough seeing footage on TV of Lebanon's destruction. I know most of the destruction is in areas that support Hezbollah, but the entire country is affected. If I were you, I would wait a year or two before going there. Wait until the country has had a chance to recover so that you can see the Lebanese spirit that's been admirable for the last 6,000 years. There's a reason why the mythical Phoenix is named after the Phoenicians of the Lebanon. They have always managed to find their way out of the ashes. They will rise and rebuild and hopefully extremist elements in the country will choose another path and the peaceful Lebanese can regain control after having been without it for so long.

Take body armour and fly.

evanlah
you wont be able to fly into lebanon right now. you would have to land either in jordan, cyprus, or isreal, and go from there. crossing the borders wont be easy during this time. its highly dangerous. not likely to find anyone really willing to drive you across the border right now.

The only way into Lebanon right now is through Syria. Israel has a blockade of the shore and has bombed the international airport runways. Since Israel will not halt their offensive into lebanon, not quite a vacation destination at the moment. You CAN NOT go into Lebanon from Israel since that boarder is closed off due to the war.
