How can the Arabs claim that the Jews are occupying Palestine, when there is no country called Palestine?

Palestine is a name which has been widely used since Roman times to refer to the region that includes contemporary Israel and the Palestinian territories, parts of Jordan, and parts of Lebanon and Syria. In its narrow meaning, it refers to the area within the boundaries of the former British Mandate of Palestine (1920-1948) west of the Jordan River.

Palestine can also refer to the Proposed Palestinian State.

The name and the borders of Palestine have varied throughout history, though Palestine has certain natural boundaries that justify its historical individuality. Other terms that have been used to refer to all or part of this area include Arabistan, Canaan, Greater Israel, Greater Syria, the Holy Land, Iudaea Province, Israel, "Israel HaShlema", Kingdom of Israel, Kingdom of Jerusalem, Land of Israel, Levant, Retenu (Ancient Egyptian), Southern Syria, and Syria Palestina.

Early archeological textual reference to the territory of Palestine is found in the Merneptah Stele, dated c. 1200 BCE, containing a recount of Egyptian king Merneptah's victories in the land of Canaan, mentioning place-names such as Gezer, Ashkelon and Yanoam, along with Israel, which is mentioned using a hieroglyphic determinative that indicates a nomad people, rather than a state.

The Arabs of Canaan are the Arabs of Palestine. Israel did not actually have a country until 1948 when they STOLE(NO ENUMERATION) part of Palestine from the Palestinians using LEAVE OR DIE, as the Jews were nomadic-the Arabs were not in that they always resided in a specific area-Canaan.Except for Iran and Israel, Canaan is totally owned by the Arabs. As for the West Bank and Gaza strips-left after Palestine was carved up-the Israelis have conceded these to the Palestinans years ago-so why are they still occupying them and building Jewish ONLY settlements there?

Bottom line, there was a Palestine since ancient times, but NO Israel until 1948-this is not to say there was no Israelis/Jews, but it was they and NOT the Palestinians whom did not have a country.Experts generally agree, the Arabs and and Jews were in Canaan equally long, but the Palestinians had a country and the Israelis/Jews did not.The Israelis actually stole part of Palestine to create Israel in 1948.The Palestinians were NOT given any ENUMERATION-it was LEAVE OR DIE-same as the Nazis did to the Jews.

Any thumbs down-present evidence otherwise.

Ha. Well maybe because before Israel, there was Palestine. Israel didn't become a country until 1949, I think.

spicyfoodguy
Because they are they have been there for 100's of years. They occupied it and it is not theirs. It is the Palestinian's land. They have not right to come. IT is where they are occupying our land.

There is a country called Palestine

I do not deny that there was an Israel before, as stated in the Qur'an, 'bani Israel' which is basically home of Israel. But, when a country occupies a land, they can change the name and it becomes a country. Same way America could have been called something else before they occupied it. Same way when the Jews came back to occupy Palestine, they changed the name to Israel.

Because it a geography term. Just like the Gulf South or the Mississippi Delta.

It's not the name that matters but the fact that they and their ancestors have lived there for many generations. Whereas vast majority of Israeli Jews are either immigrants or the descendants of recent immigrants.

That all depends how you draw a map, where you mark the borders, who you double cross and double deal with, who you sell down the river etc.

For the same reason Czechs could claim that the Germans were occupying Czechoslovakia from 1939-1945 even though after March 1939 there was No Country Called Czechoslovakia. But Jewish Nazis get away with everything that was condemned by the world when the German Nazis did it.

Palestine is a territory. Just because it isn't a "true" country, doesnt mean that the Palestinians should have their land taken over and be bombed for no reason whatsoever.

however, I am pretty sure that you won't pick my answer as the best one because you are an "Israel Lover", and would therefore pick a pro-Israel answer.

salon_junkie
They are claiming Jews are occupying the region known to them as Palestine...not an actual country.

Yes, true "Palestine" is not a country, but it is, in fact, a territory-two territories actually, the West Bank and the Gaza strip, still habituated by millions of people. Thus, with all of this commotion going on about the bombings of the Gaza strip and such, they are referring to the "territory", not the "country", but because that territory is so large and so heavily populated, the Arabs do concern themselves with it. I mean, think of it this way, if Italy was to "claim" Vatican City (which is also not a country), people would begin to revolt because people still live there and are not supposed to be in another country's control; they are their own "territory", which is, in my opinion, just a lighter way of saying "country".

The Arabs are just a bunch of freeloaders who want to kill Jews. Isreal has tried to reach peaceful agreement with them many times. Isreal has a right to protect her peaple. OK we know it was arab land at one time. So does the U.S need to give this country back to the Indians, and mexicans? Palestine can't fight so they lost their land. Indians, French, British, and Spanish couldn't hold America. We have it now! You lost end of story. Find a country you can beat loosers.

Who knows. I have heard so much BS about that area . That land belongs to the jews. Plain and simple as that. Its a literal fact that they were there first.

oof. Just remembered that we stole all our land here in the states. Whoops. Ohh well they werent doing anything with it anyway.

I know, I am a jerk.

Michael G
I understand your question, but that's a Pandora box no one wants to answer. I am a Jew and fellow Israel lover.

Before Israel became a nation, the area was called Palestine. The Arabs in the Gaza Strip do not recognize Israel, therefore they call it Palestine. Believe it or not I Had a College Professor who referred to it as Palestine. Needless to say a yelling match Ensued. ITS IS ISRAEL NOT PALESTINE!!!!!!
