How do YOU cure your lonliness?

Hey there Kumara,

I chat with my friends, go for long drives and listen to music with the volume way up high, read Quran very late at night when everybody is asleep but most of the time i daydream of places i'd like to go to, and people i'd like to meet.

I used to have a cute pet cat her name was mesteka, she would keep me occupied when my daughter was at her school. But then i had to let her go.

So you see, nothing cures loneliness if a person insists on feeling lonely. You have to try by any means possible to get out of this mood or it will take control of you all the time and in my case, it did for a long time, but i am starting to fight back, so wish me luck.

I keep myself active, I volunteer, I work, I visit friends and do things with them. I find the more I stay in the house the worse I feel, so I like to get out, even if it is for a walk or jog. I turn my focus from in to out and it seems to have helped considerably over this last year.

I don't know ,Kumara, but for me, I feel lonliner when I am surrounded with people than when I am actually alone.
This may sound confusing but I will explain. When I am with people, I feel lonely because I do not get along easily with people. This is because of defects in my own personality that I try hard to over come.
But when I am alone, lonliness makes sense. I am the kind of people who functions well in distant relationships.
Right now, I live alone. I am not happy about it, but my lonliness is justified. My estrangement and detachement can be understood, if not by people but by myself. My sadness is something that I can understand.
But when I am with people, the spiritual lonliness is unbearable because it is never justified. I can not understand it.

Now for the serious bit....
Whenever I feel lonely, I throw myself in my studies... I start reading a lot more and I focus on anything to get my mind off whatever's making me feel upset...

But I don't think that that's the right thing to do, cus when I get back to the real world, everything's ten times worse than when I left it....
I've succeeded in confusing myself and everyone else thoroughly (again)

Just remember that we're always here for you, we don't know exactly what happens in everyone else's personal lives, so everyone here is just a shoulder to cry on for everyone else....

well not much I might call my mom or sister then I will get online play a game go shopping or watch tv. I know this really dosent cure the loneliness but it takes my mind off of it when I am lonely :)

But I would like to tell you something different than others told you........ Go and try to write your diaries or your life story.... yup...... why not? .... bring some papers and a pencil and start writting it....... or write short stories........ or even write some papers abt yahoo answer lebanon category........ also try to read articles about life and cultures....... also try to watch some movies........ also you can travel for few days to new places...... When I'm lonely, I think I don't try to cure my loneliness I do whatever I can unintentionally, to make it worse! So I won't be that much of a help for you...

Find a partner.

Do not attempt to dump your feelings on friends. The difference is that your partner loves you the way you are and will carry you for a long time. Friends won't. They have their own lives and problems and you have to respect that.

We (me and my partner) each have a "friend" who likes "to dump". And that is all they do. But it does not help them to solve their underlying problems and to us it is a drag.

The other point is that once you have a partner (the right one, of course) loneliness won't be an issue any longer.

It works. I promise.
