Yes, I agree with it. However, there are limits to everything, including our freedoms to say whatever we wish. Therefore, it is imperative that our rights do not extend beyond the rights of anyone else, in that just because you or I have the right to say something, that we should just go ahead and say it. Someone else has the right to not hear it or read it. Thereby wherefore, your rights end where another persons rights begin. For example, Howard Stern my have the right to spout all the **** he wants on the radio, but I also have the right to change the radio station. Some jackass my have the right to shout out the window, but I also have the right to peace and quiet in my neighbourhood. Some douche may have the right to burn the American flag, but I also have the right to kick that person's *** for insulting my country. Someone may have the right to protest and block traffic, but I also have the right to drive down the road, so they shouldn't be surprised if they have to pay the consequences for exercising their freedom, because freedom isn't free. There's a heavy ******' fee for freedom. You want to play, you have to be ready to pay. Freedom does not have to limited if people would respect each other and consider the feelings and rights of others. Ethics, morals, those things are important. Thank you.

Freedom of speech is a civil right and one of the basic rights in democracy. Basically it gives people the right to speak and express themselves freely.

However, free speech controversies rise when it comes to religious, cultural, or any other sensitive matters. So yes, some issues such as where does free speech begin and where it ends are not that simple to address.

Interesting questions are:
1- Can limiting speech be for protecting democracy?
2- How can free speech coexist with competing values in a society?
3- When does free speech become offensive/harmful?
4- Does free speech give right for the people to issue hate speech?

In my opinion, free speech can be limited in cases to prevent harm, protect democracy. It can be also be limited, but to a LESSER extent to avoid offense (especially religious based) or hate speech.

freedom of speach has been twisted to mean, only for me. but, if you say something i don't like, then it's offensive, racism
or not politically correct. and some races can say anything they want about others and it's just fine. but it's like everything else in this country today. wrong is right and right is wrong.

the right to speak your mind.

I agree with it as long as we understand that this right is sometimes a weapon ( media, politicians, high profile people) so it is to be used cautiously and responsibly.

Yes......i agree with freedom speech.
It's important when common pple can make use of it but much more important is in journalism.
Pple have the right to express their feelings and thoughts, but respecting some ethic rules.
By other side, somewhere is bad used in politics...unfortunatelly, pple or journals in some countries havent that right, bcoz their rulers dont allow to say the truth or things that are against them.

"Think for yourselves and let others enjoy the privilege to do so too"--Voltaire

And the quote attributed to him, which he never said, but with which I agree: "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."

Yes, its the first amendment
the problem is some people are to dumb to use it responcibly
like rosie o'donnel, the KKK, the black panther party and others.

queenofsiberia
Yes agree with it, its our first bill of rights.

But, some do take it advantage of this right.

Speak all you like as long as it doesn't offend thee.

Freedom of speech should be a democratic right but comes with responsibilities !

We have obligations to value the rights of others & respect them .We also have a responsibility to speak the truth , to not distort or manipulate our words in order to gain by them.

It's the right to speak up your mind, and express your opinions within the context of respect for others.
It's sometimes hard to achieve, because people interepret "freedom" differently.

I personally agree with it, as long as it does more good than harm.

PS: I'd like to know who suddenly thumbed down all of my answers. Probably a close-minded person who got upset from one of my answers? Get a life, you chicken!

<Fares>, see what freedom of speech can lead to?

hasafer
I do agree with it , but not to offend others or harass them or even make fun of their ideas or believes , I'm with it as long as it's valuable
