Ranoush(ppl thumbed me down:p)
We as Muslims need to state unequivocally and unambiguously that homosexuality is a deviant behavior and that there is not even an iota of doubt that Islam condemns the behavior.

The most important thing for us as Muslims is that Islam is not our ethnicity, it is our religion which regulates our lives and from which we derive our values.
Even though our religion allows us latitude, more than most, to ponder and reconsider some issues, homosexuality is clearly and explicitly condemned by the Quran (7:80-83, 11:77-79), the Prophet, and his progeny.
When we have a conflict with the Quran, which is the word of God verbatim, we do not ask where the Quran went wrong but rather why are we, limited beings, in conflict with the wisdom of the absolute, God Almighty.
As Muslims we do not make up our religion, but we receive it and we obey it.

Allah(swt) says in the Noble Qur'an: "And Lot who said to his people: 'Do you do what is indecent though you see its iniquity? Would you really approach men in your lusts rather than women? You are a people grossly ignorant.' His people gave no answer but this: 'Drive out the followers of Lot from our city. They are indeed men who want to be clean and pure.' But we saved him and his family except his wife: We destined her to be of those who lagged behind. And We raked down on them a shower: and evil was the shower on those who were admonished." (An-Naml: 54-58)

"Of all the creatures in the world will ye approach males". "And leave those whom Allah has created for you to be your mates? Nay ye are a people transgressing (all limits)!" - Holy Quran 26:165-166

The end result for not giving up homosexuality was the destruction of entire cities
Thus stated, we need to clarify, that it does not mean that we hate the homosexual person but rather that we find the behavior abhorable. We want to help with sensitivity and care whoever has these tendencies, or practices such behavior. We can further point out the following:

God has created everything in pairs each endowed with physical and psychological characteristics to complement and complete one another. The Quran (4:1) indicates that human beings have been created from one living entity (nafs), which represents the origin of both the male and the female. The human species though has included male and female since its existence..... The "mating" or "spousing" of male and female sexes is original in human nature and out of this instinctive relationship the human race develops, continues and spreads.....

We, as Muslims, have benefit and blessings of divine guidance and wisdom. The Quran reminds us that Allah (SWT) will change the condition of the people only if they themselves put forth the effort (13:11). If the homosexuals can promote their wrong values with vigor and succeed, we have a duty and a responsibility to not only make an effort to arrest this trend, but also to invest our time, energy, and resources to promote the divine values with as much zeal.

--------------------------------------...

and as we are talking about Egypt, where there are chritians beside the majority muslims, here's the bible opinion on homosexuality:

In respect to homosexuality and the Bible, sound Bible exegesis and Bible exposition demonstrates that the Bible condemns homosexuality. The Bible clearly associates the city of Sodom with homosexuality (Genesis 19:4-9), although the Bible associates with Sodom other sins as well. Claims that the primary reason for Sodom's judgment was inhospitality are not supported by sound Bible exegesis.

Here are the two main verses from our Bible that will give us what God's opinion really is on this issue.

*"If a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination." (Leviticus 20:13)

*"Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived, neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God." (1 Corinthians 6:9-11)

gays being in a society means more ladies for the strait guys, that's good. works for me!!

BUT, there is a HUGE flip side.
I like what Rana has posted. I'm with that.
@Rana, you covered it all. I also don't hate gay people, I hate what they do.

@Hopeless. I respect and totally understand what you are saying. And yes they work, study and maybe even do better jobs than others. The problem is its not just behind closed doors, they too protest and make a hassle. They also hit on strait guys and I find that disgusting!!
Hopeless, why do you think God created the sexual desire?? to preserve the human race. how will the gay community contribute to that.
It's just not natural and our religion as well as others condemn it.
read rana's answer. As a muslim, That is who I feel. there is nothing wrong with gay people except that they are gay.

-
of course they affect the society , specially kids who don`t know exactly what gay is . '' when you hear something like gay is okay in the USA & England of course it has its effect on kids & teens.
but , i still feel sorry for them Bcuz most of the time they`re emotionally disturbed & need to be on medication & therapy .
this sub-culture isn`t so obvious & known in muslim countries but they do exist.

have a nice day
LOL

My best friend of 30 yrs is a gay man & we have a standing joke =
'What if god created the gay man & woman to help keep the population down, & to balance out all the people who have millions of children'.
Something to think about isnt it?

Ps. my hubby is a Muslim & he has no problem with my friend, or any other gay person he has met so far (he told me to tell you this).
My husband has an open mind & never judges people, its one of the many reasons that i love him so.

They pass their perversions off on to others. They contribute to the growth of AIDS. They present a distorted view of sexuality. They make normal people uncomfortable. They try to gain the legitimate benefits that married (this means a man and a woman) couples deserve, while not having a legitimate relationship. They cannot have children, and should not be around anyone else's. Those with religious convictions would assert such relationships are sinful. They cannot have family values, since they cannot create a family.

On the plus side, they have great fashion sense.

Vibes
It dosen't affect anything. If a gay couple is together, that's not causing any harm to anyone...it's just discrimniation.

Kalooka
gays have their own society..they don't affect the normal society except in some stories to tell and have fun with..

Having lived in the state for such a long time, I came across and had to deal with different kinds of people. I dealt with many homosexuals at work at school, etc... but seeing this in a western and non-Muslim country is totaly different than seeing the same among us Muslims and in a Muslim country. I did not care much abt seeing gays in public places in US and I treated them normally because anyway way they have no religion so who cares! but seeing gay Muslims???? It is just so plain disgusting! As a Muslim. I cannot stand it, I cannot tolerate it, and I cannot accept it. Like our society needs more corruption. So how does it affect our society? Of course it affects it badly, horribly. Those ppl who claim to be Muslims really have no faith cuz if they do they wont be doing what theyre doing. They have their sneaky ways of affecting other males, especially the young ones who do have no experience in life. I heard years ago that 40 gays were caught in Egypt and were jaied and were to be punished. But of course US sent and order to Egypt to set them free and of course the Egyptian government can never say no to usa, can it? We need to save our country, we need to get rid of those filthy, disgusting ppl influencing our youth, but how can we do that?!

@7atem- so u think AA asking this q makes the category unclean? What is wrong with discussing this issue just like we discuss any other issues here in this category. it's not like she is posting a q here saying bring on all the gays and lesbians in here!!!!!

@7atem- cuz it needs to be discussed to make ppl aware of it and for parents to watch out for their kids and youth n know their r such ppl do exist in our society. In this case, this is called awareness and education cuz no one is trying to spread fitnah here

Hope
It would be total denial to say that they have no effect on society, they do!!!

Nothing more cud be said after rana and ruby's answers, what is strange nowadays that i see people afraid to say they are pro or con homosexuality for fear of being crucified as homophobic. Well i am totally against it and i am not afraid to call it by its name it is weird and wrong.

What is more shameful and frustrating to me, is that recently it has been so accepted to the point of forcing it as the new norm onto our kids and young ones, (like the movie shrek the 3 where one of the princesses is a transvestite). So now our kids are going to grow up thinking well it is OK it is normal. it is NOT.

Now i am ready for all the thumbs down..............

Missy Mae
Should not affect nothing, it is their life's and they can live it the way they want it is not hurting any one. If people don't like same sex relationships simply DON'T look!!!!!!

Ben
If such Gays are unable to hide their life style, especially those who professionally have to deal with young people, like Teachers, they can affect Society in a very negative way. Young people have an innate
tendency to imitate authorities they look up to in the formation years of their lives.

I'm Blind not Deaf
They made a special category for this

Reggie
the do not affect society and they are humans with feeling just like us and yes if there were more there would be less babies but really gay folk are OK and also very cleaver and handsome

HopelessZ00
I'm from Canada and here its normal, It's like a belief, I believe what I believe for my life, and others believe what they believe. One does not have to accept it, but a society has to be tolerant of it. So that all people can get along.

Homosexual people work, they study, they do the same things we all do. What happens behind closed doors is not my business. Live and let live. God will judge us all one day.

What I really see here and in parts of America are people that march in the street in protest. Speaking words of evil and hatred. I think they really affect society much more than a Homosexual person does. Peace!

Just do it

Less child births. More gay parades *shudder*. More HIV

well being gay doesnt affect the society.. why are you homophobic?

meeting in the aisle
Gay people are just like you, me, and everyone else. What they chose to do in the privacy of their own bedrooms is THEIR BUSINESS! It should have no effect on society.
