How often to do clean your inner ear (the wax)?

Funny you should ask...I just recently went to see my "ear doctor"; I felt like my ears were blocked/ full of wax and was feeling deaf...he asked me if I clean my inner ear with a Q-Tip, I said yes....

He said, "NOOOOOOOOOO!!!??!!" you should never clean your inner ear with a Q-Tip...he ended up having to rinse my inner ear with water-gun like syringe and OH MY GOD!!!! You wouldn't believe the stuff that came out :-o

He said you should only clean the outskirts of your ear; and just slightly rinse your inner ear when in the shower....

The ear canal is like a conveyor belt. If you leave it alone, it will push the wax out of the ear. Using cotton swabs (Q-tips) to remove the wax can actually push it in farther and pack it against the ear drum.

Some people make excess wax while others make harder wax that may block the ear canal causing temporary hearing loss or ear pain.

It's is not good to clean your ears out daily, your only pushing the wax deeper into your ear canal which will cause irratation or can lead to ear infection.

How i clean the wax out of my ears is i take a bobbi pin upside down and go inside my ear and scrape out the wax...works great!

Dont know what it taste like but i assume much like the belly button would.

every time I have a moment to myself I do it...like now while I'm answering this for example, guess where my finger is! (well not in my ear actually now but close)

i agree with gobalman ...

as a doctor ... i know that you shouldn't clean your inner ear with a Q-Tip 'cuz ull push the wax inside ... i clean the margins and the outer ear only ... i rinse my ears in the shower and dry them with the towel ...

as for the taste .. i know how it tastes like but i don't know HOW i know that .. maybe i did taste it when i was a kid ...

I'm waiting for my nails to grow a little so I can clean it properly.

i just clean the external part of the hear, going deeply to clean may be dangerous, plus wax is normally coming out by itself so you just have to clean frecuently the external part (every time you take shower).
Ä°f i have tasted it...no at all.

I have never tasted it. Never thought about it until your question?!

Edit : Zoggers has me disgusted with the belly button thing...Eeeeeeewwwwww....now I am wondering whether people taste belly button crud...?!

I totally agree with Globalman but I don't respect it. I still clean it with q tips everyday. And... to satisfy your curiosity, yes I have tasted it... when I was little... It tastes awful, it's very bitter. Actually, I prefer the taste of... ''mkhat'', at least it's sweet.
