i listen with one ear for humanity's sake , and let the trash that they say go out from the other ear for my own sake.
they arent acting or lying .
it's their make up that makes them see misery in everything .
if i dont listen, i would add to their misery.
if i take them seriously , i woukd join the club of misery myself . |

Smile at them and be polite or give them a taste of their own medicine and let them see how it feels. |

Ever heard the expression "Misery Loves Company?" To me the best way to handle them is ignore them. Let them rant and rave about whatever there problem is and don't pay any attention to them. If they get you involved in their turmoil, it will only bring you down. |

I ignore them... that works! |

They have low self esteem. Deep inside they believe that they are less than others in intelligence, luck, background, education, power, social status, beauty etc.
They do this to make it up for how they feel about themselves. In other words it makes them comfortable to appear better than others.
If you care for them or you can not avoid them try to inflate their self esteem. Find something good in them and praise them for it. Most probably the urge to compensate for what they believe themselves to be will calm down temporarily. If this happens then you know how to deal with them.
If they do not change then it is acute and you have to live with it if they are close to you and you can not avoid them. In case you can avoid them then that is better for you cause it is annoying to hear complains and criticism all the time. |

While they are talking, keep a lovely friendly smile on your face and nod every now and then, just to make it seem as though you are listening.
But in your mind let them know just what miserable, hypocritical ingrates they really are. |

when you find out please let me know....
My guess is just be calm and patient with them letting them know they are not any better than anyone else. We are all in this world together and have our own lifestyle and beliefs. you should never discriminate unless you want to be discriminated yourself! |

I'm with Ruby on this one, i always tell them to look at themselves before they criticise others. I try to stop the negativity at work, as it brings us all down. |
