ummm ok you are definitely very illiterate about the world around you.
have you not looked up dubai on google or seen it on tv like a million times? because if you did, you would know why it's different.
if you're afraid to go to dubai, because of an UNEXISTING war, then don go- you're only missing out.
and sweetheart, you're not safe anywhere, for all you know, you could be anywhere, in any country, and in a blink of an eye,that country you're in could decide to go into war... if you're going to live the rest of your life like this in fear of going to certain areas because of potentials for war, or for anything bad to happen to you, you might as well lock yourself in your room and not leave it, for fear of being hurt.

my advice, enjoy your life, and take things easily- you're not going to a war-zone, so why worry? you're parents are doing you a favor of taking you on this trip to dubai- it's a marvelous and luxurious city that im pretty sure 100% you will enjoy. so just relax and as TI and Rhianna say, live your life!!

not all of the middle east is bad, and dubai is a really beautiful tourist attraction. Instead of worrying and trying to convince your parents not to go, start packing your stuff and thinking of all the fun your going to have:] i wish i could be going there!!

Dubai is a very peaceful place and there is no war there. Many Americans and Europeans go there for vacation and it's very well developed since they now have the tallest tower in the world called Al Burj and a land shaped into a palm tree with huge beach houses. Dubia is also too far from Palestine and Iraq to be affected by the war. You'll love it their it has everything even an indoor snow sledding place. Very expensive. I even heard Micheal Jackson has a huge house down in Dubai.

Wow, I'm almost positive that you got your information from a racist or a jealous person. The United Arab Emirates is completely different from the war zone of the Middle East. So is Qatar. In fact the appearance is much better than the U.S.A Trust me, it's not more dangerous than Detroit Michigan. Actually, just as safe as the Harvard University campus. What's great abut my country is there is much to do, although it is still developing, we enjoy our peaceful lives and hope you enjoy it too =]

"m a" , that was very beautiful answer and to the point. Just because you are in A or B country it doesn't mean it is safer than others , we are all in the same boat . Do you guys even know that a few months ago a US military cargo plane carried a nuclear bomb BY MISTAKE across the county without any of the needed safegaurds for carrying such a weapon being taken into effect. They only found out after it arrived in the other airport. This plane flew over civilian largely populated areas , and had something gone wrong with the flight the USA would have been 49 states instead of 50. These things are more dangerous than any war in history. There are 1700 such bombs around the world, mainly in US, Russia, and Isreal alone got 200. Should there be a nuclear war or retaliation/chain re-action no body on the planet would survive. So live your life and don't waste it being scared , as they say when your times comes there is nothing you can do about it.

We've got sunshine, beaches, hotels and malls, but no war. Seriously, bring a camera and a smile, cause you'll need both. i am in dubai for one year now and i haven't heard a single gunshot, much less a WAR!!! where do you get your information? dubai is a very peaceful and open country compared to other middle east countries. and there are more tourist attractions here than other middle east countries, and more tourist friendly for that matter. so instead of convincing them not to go, i suggest you pack your things already.

In General, if you like to convinnice any one, you have to bring out the logic reasons, even if they are not true.
Now, in your case..talk to your parents about your fears, let them understand the fear you are facing just to think going there.
This way they will realise that you are not ready to go anywhere for the time being.

Christopher, Christopher, Christopher...You sound like a reasonable young person, take a minute and do a little more research on the subject of Dubai (and for that matter the entire of the Emirates). What you find WILL surprise you. I'm going to assume that you are in your young teens (under 18 over 13), old enough to have your own opinions on things, but not quite aware enough of the world to have justified those opinions just yet. Travel, the luxury your parents are providing you, is a means to this end. You may not enjoy yourself in Dubai as much as say, 3 weeks in Spain, but you will definitely not have a bad time there. You will find the place big, bold, curious and, well, foreign. Even if you are in one of the beach resorts so popular with us westerners. (yes, I am an American).
I have been to Dubai several times, and have found the place more than amenable to "us" westerners. Remember that the war we started (american's 'we') is taking place in a country that is NOT Dubai, NOT in the Emirates, and NOT where you are going. Curiously though, it is taking place in THE BIRTHPLACE OF CIVILIZATION. Remeber that one, when you speak of the middle east with some learned disdain. They invented civilization. It is likely that the 'garden of eden' was somewhere in Iraq. Ever hear of Babylon...Iraq. Abraham, the guy from the bible (and the Koran, and Torah by the way)...yep...born in Iraq. The middle east is a big, old place that is worthy of respect. It can be scary only if you forget that there are many, many ways of doing things in the world. They have their way, we have another. We're BOTH right.
I digress. You'll have a great time in Dubai. Visit as many of the Souk's as you can...these are special marketplaces full of sights and sounds that are often spectacular. Of course, get in the ocean there, its warm and friendly, take a cruise in a Dhow. (you do the research to figure out where that one comes from). I've left you some references below. if they bore you, find others that don't.

...there's no war there, but just to be safe, you might want to bring an AK -47 in your luggage so you can retialiate if anything happens. Don't be scared, just kill anyone who looks suspicious and you'll be fine. If you want something less powerful, but more accurate, then being an M-16, they are also lighter, and have an easy cary handle at the top. Otherwise, just bring a sling-shot if you're a little ***** who is scared to kill someone who is dead set on killing you and your whole family. It's your choice to kill, or be raped with a chainsaw.
