Yes, Hasafer is correct. The numbers are substitutes for Arabic sounds which don't exist in English. We do that when we try to write Arabic in Roman characters. |

some letters in Arabic aren't there in English, so instead of writing in Arabic we write in English using the numbers to represent those letters:
2=Ø¡
7=Ø
5 =Ø®
3 = ع
3’ = غ
those letters don't match any ones in english and they have different prononsiations.
sorry if it isn't well explained. |

My daughter does that and I cant type fast like that. That's not how I learned to type. Then there are those that use numbers as part of Arabic and only when they are using English lettering. Example: 3=a........ &......... 7=h
Interesting fact: There are about 990,000 words in the English language. Some of them are rarely used or not at all.
- As for Arabic, I couldnt get an number. |

Some letters in Arabic don't have an equal sound for them in English, so we use numbers to represent the sound of these letters which have no letter for them in English.
Did that make sense ;) |

It’s called the internet language.. Using English letters and numbers for Arabic words to make them read in English.. I guess you know that there are letters/sounds that exist in Arabic and don’t exist in English.. So, the numbers are for the letters that don not exist in English...
They are:
2: for أ‘ ء
7: for Ø
5 or 7’ for :خ
3 for: ع
3’ for: غ
Personally, I do not use it as it’s not an official language to use.. It started as a new style of writing in Egypt, online and in sms texts, and then turned to be the first way some people use when they write... |

you are right. they use the arabic phonetics symbols to express themselves. i use combinations of english alphabets like : gh or kh
but i resort to : 3 bec it cannot be done otherwise. |

it's arabic or egyptian dialect..arabic language has some phonetics that is not there in english..numbers do the job so that communication be easier for the arabic speaking community. |
