Who are you trying to fool? Why bring up this question when you're "trying to learn" about Israel? Are you trying to say that we made up that number? There were approx. 6 million killed but not all were in Germany. Other countries lost a lot of jews as well. Hey guess what? If your people were over there then you'd have a number of dead too because you're not exactly blond and blue eyed either. Now how do you feel?

I was always under the impression that the number was closer to 6 million, but you could be right. The answer is simple: The Holocaust extended to other nations. Think about it: The Nazi's death camps were all in Poland and Latvia. Obviously other nations were cooperating.
Also, the Nuremberg Laws extended the definition of a Jew to people who were only 1/8 Jewish, whom would otherwise call themselves Christians.

By the way, the Holocaust doesn't exactly fall under the category of Israel. Hitler only really spread his influence throughout Europe.

as the person above said, before the holocaust there were four million polish jews. after the holocaust there were only a couple hundred thousand. poland is a very small country. you do the math.
