I would like to be wrong but I need to ask about it, has Israel really used nuclear blackmail against the US?

I have heard they threatened to use nuclear weapons against Muslim countries to force the US to help them at certain points in history.

Is this true?

I am shocked if it is, please, just tell me I am wrong about this.

BTW: I am half Jewish and yes, I live in America, but, nuclear blackmail, that astounds me to no end if it is true. That type of action should not be tolerated by the US.

Yes, you are certainly wrong.

I am happy to confirm that there was no nuclear blackmail by Israel against the United States,. That would be like one man taking on a million. Their military and political strengths are not on the same level whatsoever.

Yes Israel really used blackmail against the US.
Countless of times.
Even the jew P.M. A Sharron said this in a synaguoge (Kneshette):
"Don't worry about America, we the Jews control America"

Israel has in fact used MILITARY threats against other countries in the ME in order to get the US to act on their behalf, IE Iraq. Israel has also been rumoured to have sent out fighter jets close to the border of Iran, which the US supposedly intercepted. How true this is is open to debate, but what is clear is that they have no problem with attacking Iran. I am sure they are hoping that the US would then back them up. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/middle_east/article4178960.ece
I think it is more the case that Israel and the US poses more of a threat to Iran and it's neighbour than Viceversa. I also agree that Israel more than likely has nuclear weapons, and that if that is the case, there should be a balance of power. Either that, or Israel should be paid a visit by the IAEA, just like any other country would. Why it hasn't already is beyond me, it seems as though they are immune to the laws that govern the rest of the ME.
As far as the US not tolerating that, I don't think they can really do much about it without damaging their very mutually lucrative friendship, that is why both the US and the UK made very little fuss regarding Israeli spies in their countries.

Yes. Obviously they have never threatened the U.S. with a nuclear attack the USG is their foremost ally, but they have not infrequently made very broad public hints that they would resort to nuclear weaponry unless the U.S. deposed some Existential Threat regime, and there is always one. Given the tenor of public hints, often proceeding from Cabinet level persons,we may reasonably assume that their private communication are far more blunt, since among things they have never formally admitted to posessing a nuclear arsenal. They don't actually say: we will do this if you don't act on our behalf, destroy Iraq,etc.. It's more along the lines of: we are a small country,we don't have your conventional military resources or manpower,if you won't handle this matter we will be "forced" to use the only "serious" measure available to us which regrettably is also the most extreme. This is an obvious ploy to scare the U.S. into acting as a Golem for the Israeli government. It is very effective. They are doing this now with Iran, dropping all sorts of hints. I wouldn't call it blackmail since the U.S. isn't the projected target, but I would certainly call it blatant manipulation - crude but effective.

I think it is true. The jews think that we must do what they say, this is no "help" this is called extortion and the jews are very good at it.

I think the world definitely needs a counter-nuclear power in the Middle East to deal with the jews possessing dangerous and deadly nuclear weapons. Iran should be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons, or at least the Syrians or the Lebanese should work on getting their own nukes. Mutual Assured Destruction is the key to peace.

b
Yes it happened in 1973. The two named targets were Cairo and Damascus and the US was blackmailed into resupplying Israel with weapons to avoid the use of nukes. Golda Meir may have been bluffing but the US didn't take that chance.

reader
Yes, they did and will do it every time they need to.
I think that nobody in the middle east should be allowed to have nuclear bombs. Israel should sign the "Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty" and its nuclear facilities should be monitored by the UN.
I wouldn't agree that arab and Iran should also be allowed to have nuclear bombs to fix the balance with Israel. I wouldn't trust arab neither israel to have the nuclear technology because they are both crazy and fanatic enough to use it.

jonganzarski
In 1973, when Syria and Egypt attacked israel on yom kippur, the holiest fast day in the jewish calendar, the Israelis were completely unprepared. they earliest battles ended with routs of Israeli soldiers, and the army needed to be restocked.

Whatever nuclear weapons Israel has are trained on the Arab nations in Israel's immediate vicinity. America knows this, and also knows that if Israel is on the verge of destruction, those nukes will be launched in order to bring down those around it (as Samson did with the biblical plishtim, thus, he is the namesake of the plan).

so yes, Israel used nuclear blackmail against the united states.
but I have a question for you? do you believe that israel should have fallen to its enemies instead of using every possible resource to remain in place?

you are either for Israel or against it. if you are against israel defending itself, than you should just go back to your little bubble in the states and stop asking big boy questions whose answers may "shock" you

...
Na, that sounds like a lie just to scare american citizens. I wouldn't worry about it.

PoliSciFi
Israel has always maintained ambiguity regarding its nuclear arsenal. It has never acknowledged its existence. Threatening to nuke somebody would be an acknowledgment of Israel's nuclear status, so it doesn't make sense in that regard.

Also, nuking another country is not in Israel's best interests. All Western countries would stop supporting it and most Arab and Muslim countries would attack in retaliation.

So, no, I believe you have heard incorrectly.Israel has never used nuclear blackmail.

jd
It's true that they have told the US that if they followed a certain course it could lead to the Samson defense but that would call for a massive attack on Israeli ground.
I have heard they might suggest using them against Iran but I don't know how true that is. Easy enough to find out if you care.
I haven't heard of Israel threatening anyone that hasn't threatened them first.

How could Israel threaten anyone by saying it will use nuclear weapons against Muslim countries, this is so funny, so you can stop shaking in shock.
What is even funnier claiming to be half Jewish.

This is utter nonsense...lol....
The U.S is so much more powerful and wealthy than Israel.
In the relationship between the two countries, the U.S is the one calling the shots, not Israel.
The next time someone tells you a ridiculous story like this one, ask for proof: A link, an article, some documentation, etc.

harajuku lover
nope iran has nuclear weapons. israel and america are great friends! :)

Sharon never said that........it has been proven that he has never said that lol. See this is exactly what's wrong with the israeli-arab conflict. Too much propoganda on both sides. Everybone should just tell the truth.
