IF religion was not an issue, who should have jerusalem? Palestinians or Israel?

Who are you for?

Show all answers

Shadi
Palestinians of course! I will tell you why:
1) Who came first;Children of Israel or Palestinians (Arabs)
Children of Israel have no documents on this land ever, except having a small kingdom which did not included all Jerusalem about 2500 years ago and lasted for a very short time! Even during their rule, many historians confirm that they were a minority in Canaan land which they took by force in the first place from native Canaan (Arab) tribe.
Palestinians have all the right in this land since they have been there before the Children of Israel and they came from Canaan Arabs which genetics prove, and many historians confirm.
2)Who are the Children of Israel
Anthropology, proves that Children of Israel today are not the same who lived in Palestine! Many of them are mixed races and not Semitic! Because they lived all over.
That is why, when claiming any historical right, we have to separate the religion from the origin!
3)What right?
If we were to say that Children of Israel, or today's Jews, came before Palestinians. Just to assume that. What right do they have claiming something after more than 2500 years? Where have they been all this time? And what is your prove?
Does that give the right to Muslims to take Spain, which they ruled for hundreds of years, and until today keep their evidence in almost every Spanish city? Does that give the right to Albans of Balkan to claim for ex Yugoslavia countries, just because they were there first? And Portugal claiming Indonesia? And so goes for other many nations..
If we would allow such thing to happen, this world would become a real mess. Let us leave everything and start digging for historical rights and change the map of the world...
4) Zionist propaganda:
Many Zionists today claim that, Palestine is Jordan and that Palestinians belong there. And that Palestine was empty all the time. They are denying historical fact that Muslims ruled this land for more than 10 centuries, and have evidence of Islamic civilization all over Palestine! How could Muslims and Palestinians live in Jordan, Syria, Lebanon and not live in Palestine which is the most beautiful spot on the earth? That is nonsense, because if they were claiming Jordan, they would say it was empty too and Jordanians belong to Palestine.
During the great Islamic rule; Syria, Jordan, Palestine and Lebanon was one country under the name "Al Sham countries" It was only divided by British occupation so it can be controlled and make the job easier for Israel!
Muslims during their rule defeated all foreign invaders and defended their lands, while children of Israel were lost somewhere in this world.
That proves that only true owners of the land will stand and die for their lands.

This land belongs to Palestinian people, who are Muslims, Christians, and Jews.

Bayram mubarek to everyone

Israel is real Palestine is a made up word.

In short and to the point, ISRAEL!

Jerusalem was and is the capital of Israel.

Other than the religion issue it is nothing / was nothing to Arabs

Since when do the Palestinians call Jerusalem by its ACTUAL NAME: Jerusalem? And keeping religion out of it--why do THEY THEMSELVES call it "Al Kuds," The Holy?

Israel. We took control of the city in a war we did not start. I mean, if a country gains land in a war, you would not expect any country in the world to give the land back. Only Israel seems to be asked to give back land in a war we won but didn't start.
Jerusalem was and still is and should always be a part of Israel.

iameJPAJDL
Definately Israel.....And that goes for all Jerusalem including East J..

Arabs never had a claim to it & during the British mandate both Jews & Arabs lived there.Arabs being the minority..Generations of my family have lived there forever so stop with your pallywood propaganda!!

Moslems were offered a 2 state solution by the UN which Israel accepted & you/Arabs rejected..You were sold out by your loving Arab brothers so go back to Jordan or the other 23 Arabic countries..If they'd have trouble makers like you..

Your holy city is Medina so forget Mo' and his crazy dream..

Good Night..Am Y'srael Chai

Without a doubt, jerusalem is the capital of israel and will always be.
Ever since King David made Jerusalem the capital of Israel 3,000 years ago, the city has played a central role in Jewish existence. The Western Wall in the Old City — the last remaining wall of the ancient Jewish Temple, the holiest site in Judaism — is the object of Jewish veneration and the focus of Jewish prayer. Three times a day for thousands of years Jews have prayed “To Jerusalem, thy city, shall we return with joy,” and have repeated the Psalmist's oath: “If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget her cunning.”

By contrast, Jerusalem was never the capital of any Arab entity. In fact, it was a backwater for most of Arab history. Jerusalem never served as a provincial capital under Muslim rule nor was it ever a Muslim cultural center. For Jews, the entire city is sacred, but Muslims revere a site — the Dome of the Rock — not the city. “To a Muslim,” observed British writer Christopher Sykes, “there is a profound difference between Jerusalem and Mecca or Medina. The latter are holy places containing holy sites.” Besides the Dome of the Rock, he noted, Jerusalem has no major Islamic significance

Jerusalem is part of Palestine and all Palestine is for Palestinians.
the Zionists are outsiders came from different countries to steel it with the help of the UK.
Jews , Christians and Muslims lived there as Palestinians , theres no such thing as Israel .

you can read these websites to see that steeling Palestine had nothing to do with Judaism.

Well since Jerusalem has only EVER been the Capital of a Jewish state - Israel. Jerusalem has NEVER been the Capital of an Arab state.

Too much emphasis is placed on sites, objects and themes. God if he exists is ever changing as are we, so objects mean nothing, yet man always tries to make the object a part of their god. sacred this, sacred that, and all the time the god is moving on. Besides, the jews have to rebuild a temple so god can come back in the form of a Messiah and end it all. who knew? I believe it is ridiculous to put so much importance in a place, but there you are.

culturally, historically and politically it belongs to Israel. Israel built the city while "Palestinians" did nothing, not even built a road.

it should be shared between all 3 religions..Christian,Muslim and Jews. The only people who don't want this are war mongers. Cheers.

Religion isn't an issue. Jerusalem was ruled by Arabs, Jewish, Christian and Muslim Arabs, for thousands of years. What exactly IS Israel? It's the 'Jewish state', is it not? If it weren't the 'Jewish state' and treated Jews and Arabs as equals, nobody would've had a problem with its name. It would've been Palestine with a different name.

Many a king of ancient civilizations attempted to make his royal city into a holy city, Jerusalem king Davids city was Israels CAPITAL first.

JERUSALEM -CAPITAL OF DAVID:Jerusalem's only basic advantage lay in the defensibility provided by its hilly location. As a commercial centre it lay only on the minor trade routes used by a few merchants. Jerusalem's water was through three large waterworks underlying the city including the famous tunnel dug by King Hezekiah in the late eight century BC in preparation for an imminent seige by the Assyrians.Lacking impressive monuments, King David planned to make it a religious centre, but it fell to his son Solomon to achieve this making the city a place, which inspires with its spritual grandeur. "Jerusalem that is built to be a city where people come together in unity; to which tribes resort, the tribes of the Lord, to give thanks to the Lord himself, the bounden duty of Israel," (Psalms 122:2-7).Although known from the early second millennium BCE, Jerusalem first became a capital city under the kingship of David. From the period of David (1006 BC), the city expanded gradually in the areas of the Temple compound, the Upper City, the Ophel, and the Lower City, the City of David. In the eighth century, the area to the west of the central Tryopoeon Valley was developed and surrounded by a Broad Wall including the area around the Citadel of David. At the time of the destruction in 586 BC, Jerusalem was a strongly fortified city extending over the southeastern slopes of Mt. Zion (the present Armenian and Jewish Quarters).Jerusalem established various international relations from its earliest period. Phoenician craftsmen were sent by Hiram, king of Tyre, laboured to build the Temple and the royal palace of King Solomon. His many wives came from the neighboring lands. However, the most crucial events to the city of Jerusalem were in Egyptian dynasty of Shishak (Shoshenq I), the Assyrian under Sennacheib, and the culminatinating final attack of the Babylonians under Nebuchadnezzar II.

Okay
You received answers from Arabs and Jews. You see each one is biased to a specific point of view.
I am a man of G-d and I never lie. so the following is the true story:
The near origin of the Israelis is Mesopotamia and not Palestine. This is where they fled from to Palestine as nomads. So they are not the owners of the the land. They had been always a nomadic nation. They kept coming and going to Palestine.
If you investigate deeper in the history of the Israelis, you will discover that the only people with very close genetic structure to them are the Kurds who live in Northern Iraq, Western Persia and Southern Turkey.
If you want to dig deeper in history of the Kurds. No wonder if you discover that they are originally from India.
The conclusion is that all Palestine including Jerusalem doesn't belong to the Jews but to the Arabs

I believe the Palestinians.
They have been on that land for thousands of years and the decision of the Jews to form a country there was totally random.
There were other parts of the world considered fine and suitable for the formation of their country.
Would you like some proof?
All International polls rate Israel as the least friendly country on Earth.
Greetings

James J
Maybe it can be divided between the two sides. That would seem fair.

neither,it should be an international city belonging to no nation

I think Jerusalem should be divided into the east and west were the Israelis have the western half and the Palestinians have the east.

Bravo Sierra
Funny answers you have above, they need a history course, but of course a real history course not the Zionists "new created history"m this is the truth :

The land of Palestine has been populated by the Arabs 5000 years ago. This has been long ago in history, from the time of the Canaanite Arabs who migrated from the Arabian Peninsula to Palestine (Canaan). Several nations came in and out of this land, but the Muslims/Arabs stayed. O.S. Edwards, a historian, quotes in his book: "According to the best authorities-on the results of the archaeo-, anthropo-, and ethno-logical research-- considerable proportion of the Palestinians whom we call Arabs have an ancestral domicile in Palestine going back without a break to centuries before the Children of Israel entered the country." Except for a century of Christian dominance during the crusades, Palestine remained under Muslim control; either Arab or Turkish, from the 7th to the 20th century. The Ottoman Empire ruled from 1517-1917/18. In 1906 the Zionist congress decided that the Jewish homeland should be Palestine after changing their first declaration in 1904, where they decided that a national home for Jews would be in Argentina. We all know the rest of history with the Belford declaration in 1917, the mandate for Palestine in 1922 that I will further discuss later on. These are simple facts that clearly points out the right of land for the Palestinian people long before 1917

Israelis are Slavs, so why would they even have a look in?

COBRA
It is not a matter of religion either.
It is all about Zionism and Politics.
All religions lived in Jerusalem for thousands of years in harmony till Zionism came to the world with the idea of the Jewish state.
Jerusalem had never the city of the Jews , never in its history. It was always the city of the Palestinians regardless their religion.

naserq22
i suppose sons of king salem
they never been away from the land they stayed all the time there
although it was tough at yacov (jacob) days and the whole area suffered of famine but they never left unlike others who came from out side to the land and once there were no food for their cattle they simply left following Joseph and stayed in another land not only for those seven years in which land was dry but for 2 000 years were they came to the land were they were only guests before claiming that they inherited it to conquer and capture and once life was difficult they went for another 2 000 years
while palestinians were defending the land once and again time after time invaderr after another

Relax it ain't that bad
I'm a Moroccan Muslim and i think that jerusalem should be a UN run city because Muslims,Christians, and jews have religious sites there.
when Arabs/Muslims ran it people had equal rights. that is gods city and should not be a zionist israeli anti jesus place, but israel claims it as its capital, is that ok? even america doesn't recognize Jerusalem as israels capital, and they pay israel an allowance
