If people from New Zealand are Kiwis and from Oz are Aussies, how are people from South Africa called?

WE ARE CALLED SOUTH AFRICANS.
'SPRINGBOK' IS SPORTS EMBLEM.
'SAFFAS' ARE EXPATS; BACK PACKERS ETC

What ever our race - if we were born within the boundaries of South Africa we are South Africans.

All others like 'japies'; 'valies' 'boers' 'Rock spiders', etc are the same as 'pommies' 'red necks' etc (Brittons)

South African is the answer - acceptable in your eyes or not! Our country men have not got a nick name like the Ausies, Kiwis, Gerries etc.

Why is ''South African'' not an acceptable answer? That IS what we are.

Saffas. But, from my experience that term is mainly used by the backpacking community or those who have, at one point, done so. Ie lived in a share house in London with a few aussies, saffas and kiwis.

I don't think there is a really common "neutral" term which is similar for South Africa actually.

I know that "jaapies" is used as a slightly derogatory term, and, isn't just used (by outsiders) to mean those of Afrikaans descent. Tends to be only used for white South African's though. I have never heard it used (even incorrectly) for Black South Africans or Coloured South African's.
